From the moment of arrival we were greeted warmly and treated more like friends of the family rather than guests who were total strangers. Mary and her joyous dog, Zora, met us in her garden with big smiles. The space was exactly as described, although the photos do not do justice to the beauty and energy of the home. Big picture windows look out over a masterfully landscaped property of flowers, low stone walls, and lush forest. Although we were mostly occupied by a wedding during our stay, Mary gave us a tour of the property and welcomed us to enjoy the outdoor space, which included a fire pit and nearby babbling brook.
We intended to stay only two nights before traveling to Quebec, but decided to come back a night early to stay with her again. On that last night we opened the sliding door between her kitchen and our private space, and shared cheese and cider that we brought back from our travels north. We sat around the table with Mary, her husband, and their son, sharing stories. The following morning we found that our flight had been delayed, and Mary invited us in to have bread that their son had baked. It was delicious! This was such a relaxing and magical way to end our vacation.
Our departure included a round of hugs, and Mary even texted a few days later to see how we had fared on our travels home because weather conditions weren’t ideal. Mary’s home is a beautiful, wonderful place to stay. We highly recommend it, and hope to be back very soon.
Thank you, Mary and family for your warmth and care.
