Next to pretty Torver beck and with lake frontage to the quiet western shore of Coniston Water, this is the perfect place for a 'get-away-from-it-all' break. Originally part of an old mill building the Cottage has modern facilities but retains lots of character. Surrounded by fantastic scenery on all sides you don't need to go far to enjoy the beauty of the Lakes. Relax in the garden, or stroll down to the lake. Walk up onto the Common for amazing views, or explore the lake and island by canoe.
This 300 year-old traditional stone watermill has been cleverly converted into three individual and attractive cottage-style apartments. In an idyllic riverside setting beside tumbling Torver Beck, each of the three apartments (Dipper, Wren and Robin) are full of character and retain many original features such as exposed stone walls and beams, whilst ensuring comfort and warmth after the day's activities.
The grassy lane beside the beck leads to a large wooded field (sheep-free - a haven for dogs) and on to the secluded lake-shore, where you can sit in peace and enjoy the views, or jump into a canoe to explore the lake and the island.
Perfect for couples, Wren cottage forms the eastern end of the original Mill building. There's an attractive open-plan living area, king-size bed, and en-suite bathroom with a powerful pumped shower over the bath.
The lake shore, which is a short stroll down the path, is shared with the main Sunny Bank Mill House (another holiday let). We have Canadian canoes for hire - these are £40 to hire for your stay, including buoyancy aids.

The key will be in the door on arrival, with everything made ready for a perfect holiday. You have the place to yourselves but a caretaker lives nearby should you need any assistance. Local information is provided with your booking confirmation.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Dog owners are expected to closely supervise their dogs at all times in and around the cottages and also to ensure there is no trace of their dogs after departure, inside or out. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture and must not be left alone in the cottage unless caged (most local pubs are happy for people to bring their dogs inside).
Originally from London, I moved to Carlisle with my husband 20 years ago. We love the Coniston area and when we saw Sunny Bank we couldn't resist it! We got together several close friends and between us we own and manage all the Sunny Bank properties. We all adore the place and spend holidays here as often as we can.
Every year we have a fun weekend together inspecting the properties and deciding what should be next on our list of improvements. We want the Farm, the Mill and the Cottages to be as special as possible not just for ourselves but for all our holiday guests.
