Our charming 1929 home is a place we love so much that we want to share it with folks who are visiting Albany. So whether your stay will be for only one night or if you plan to stay longer, we welcome you to join us in our comfortable space. It's important that you know that we are NOT a traditional bed & breakfast. We are busy professionals who are sharing our home. We offer a wonderful environment at a terrific value, but if you are looking for a hotel experience, there is a Hilton nearby.
This bedroom is a large space with a nice, big old desk, a television, a dresser, a closet, a reading chair w/lamp, and plenty of natural light.
You'll have access to the entire home except the other two bedrooms.

We enjoy engaging with our guests, but are happy to let you determine how much time you'd like to spend with us when we're around.
Другие важные подробности
Because there are so many opportunities for longer-term guests here in Albany, we typically do not accept short-term (1-2 days) stays more than a month in advance. But please check in with us as your travel dates approach since we have two rooms and can probably accommodate you in one if the other is already booked.
Also, we have three very friendly kitties who will enjoy sitting on your lap if you let them. If you don't like cats for any reason, you probably will not like our house.
In the colder months we keep the thermostat kind of low, so please bring some sweaters and jammies. We do have a gas fireplace that's great to huddle around...and we have plenty of comforters to keep you warm at night.
Also, we had the wood floors re-finished at the end of 2016 so we do what we can to protect them...and that includes making sure there is no standing water on the floors. So please, when leaving the bathroom after showering please make sure your feet are dry or wear a pair of flip-flops or slippers...and please do not slide any furniture of any kind along the floors. Doing so will potentially damage the floor's finish. We appreciate your help in keeping our floors (other than the kitchen, which is faux wood) in great condition.
Similarly, since we do not believe in charging you a cleaning fee for staying in our home, we expect you to treat our home even better than you would treat your own home. We greatly appreciate your help in keeping our place looking great.
It's also worth noting that we are very informal in our home. In the morning you might see either one of us walking around in a towel and I (Aaron) am often without a shirt in my home and yard. If that's a problem for you, a hotel might be a better option.
Lastly, you will notice from our rates that we offer DEEP DISCOUNTS for weekly and monthly guests. We're happy to accommodate guests of any length stay, but we really like to host people for a full month if your travels bring you to Albany for an extended period of time. Since we offer a fairly no-frills stay at the Winnie St. Hygge House (other than our lovely home and three cats), it has been our experience that our longer-term guests tend to be more satisfied with their stays with us than some of our shorter-term guests (or folks who've never used AirBnB before) who sometimes have higher expectations. We value each of our guests, but the great thing about longer term guests is that we get to know them better and they become more a part of our household during their stay. We really enjoy that aspect of AirBnB.
We both get up early for work, so we would expect quiet after 11pm. Obviously, you can come home at any hour, but please be as quiet as possible after 11.
There is no smoking in the house and if you smoke cigarettes you are expected to throw the butts into the garbage please.
Also, we do ask that you do your best to help us maintain a clean house...essentially you are expected to pick up after yourself, clean up in the kitchen after cooking, etc. Although we are obviously your hosts, we consider our guests to be more like roommates, which is why we encourage longer-term stays through greatly discounted weekly and monthly rates. While our house is rarely sparkling clean in large part due to our fuzzy cats, we do our best to keep things looking good.
Along those same lines, we prefer that you not eat in your bedroom. It has been our experience that food ends up on things and in places where it should not be, thus causing damage. Therefore, if you do eat in your room, please be more vigilant than you might normally be.
Lastly, because our house has wonderful old hardwood floors, we ask that you please do what you can to protect their integrity...and that means preventing water from getting on them. Please wear something like flip-flops or sandals in between the bedroom and bathroom. Thanks so much. And please do not drag anything on the floors as this will damage the finish.

We love our home and would love to share it with you. We look forward to hearing from you and having you as our guest.
