Let me start off by stating that the room was clean and well prepared; however, due to the lack of communication from Lorena, this trip was not a very positive experience for my 2 friends and I. Our host messaged me what time I would like to check in. I told her the GPS' calculated time. The GPS did not register that we would encounter Miami’s heavily congested traffic, so it took us an additional 4 hours to get to our destination. Earlier, I updated Lorena on what time we would arrive. She did not respond until 6 hours later. When we arrived at 7pm, I messaged Lorena. She never messaged me back, so I called the number on her Airbnb page. No Response. I then texted the number. No Response. We waited for an hour, but since we had a reservation, we left. In the car I received a call from Diego, her husband. He told me on the phone that I kept changing our ETA so it was inconveniencing them. We had no control over it due to traffic and lack of cell reception for prompt updates. He also insisted that the number listed on their Airbnb page must've been wrong. He was very abrasive and short in solving the matter. I received a call from an airbnb representative, asking if we still wanted to stay there. I still felt uncomfortable with how the situation was left but due to not having any other options, we decided to proceed with staying at our host's airbnb. After the phone call, I immediately got a message from Lorena saying that I told her that we were arriving at 4:45pm and that the Housekeeper waited for us until 6:35pm. She also told me that I have my share of the responsibility and to leave this behind. She then messaged me saying the housekeeper left and did not tell her that I did not show up by 6:35. It was Lorena’s responsibility to tell us her situation. We did not know she had a housekeeper waiting. We did not know that changing our ETA would inconvenience them. If she stated all this and gave me proper instructions prior to our arrival, the situation would have run smoothly. When it was time to check out, I had to message Lorena to ask instructions on what to do. She asked me what time I was planning to leave. I promptly messaged her back and, again, no response. She did not message me back until after the check out time and after we had left. There were other problems during our stay. A couple who lived directly behind the house were shouting, arguing, and cursing for 2 hours right outside of our window! Construction was going in the apartment directly in front of ours. One day, without any notification earlier, the workers told us that the water would be turned off. This was not a good experience.
