Right lower Ohana- Spacious Ohana, relax on lanai and enjoy the scent of Plumeria from the garden. Walk to White Sands Beach - 0.5 miles/5min walk and boogie board or snorkel at Kahaluu Beach Snorkel Park 0.8 mile or 13 minute walk. Great location between Kailua town at 3.7 miles and the Keauhou shopping center at 1.5 miles. Easy drive to shopping, food and entertainment.

This Ohana is almost 700 sq/ft and a nice size lanai equipped with its own grill. The Ohana is just a 0.8 miles - 13 min walk from Kahaluu beach park, world class snorkeling, boogie boarding, surfing, and swimming and is 0.5 miles - 5 minutes walk to the White Sands Beach area off of Ali'i Drive. It has a private entrance and designated off street parking, a master suite with a queen bed, a sofa bed and there is a full bath. It has a fully equipped kitchen, cable TV with HBO, window air conditioner, snorkel gear, boogie boards, and ceiling fan in bedroom, as well as common area. The Ohana is located a 1/2 block off of Ali'i Drive, so there is some road noise, as well as the sound of the waves during high surf. I also ask my upstairs guests to walk quietly, especially between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am, out of consideration of our downstairs guests. Very little sound does carry from upstairs to downstairs, so we are not a good fit for people who like to party loud or are night owls. Just keep the volume down.

Drinking is ok but drunkeness is NOT.

Airbnb does not collect Hawaii taxes.

Hawaii Transient and General excise tax of 13.42% can be paid by Pay Pal 30 days prior to scheduled arrival.

The cleaning fee is $ 80 and is collected via airbn. I do ask you to do the dishes and strip bedding prior to checking out. You may also start a load of linen if you like in the washer. **Please turn off the A/C when you are not in the Ohana since electricity in the Island of Hawaii can cost up to four times than in the mainland. I appreciate your consideration.

MID JULY , AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER are the most humid months of the year and the tropical ants love that climate. Window cleaner deters them from certain areas, please spray the areas when you see these unwelcome visitors. You may call Scott the exterminator and ask him to spray the eco friendly orange spray. This was a wonderful experience. Great location, beautiful outdoor space and very clean. The thoughtfulness of the planning at the ohana was most appreciated and we had everything we needed! Would love to stay again - mahalo !

What an amazing apartment + location. Very easy to reach from the airport and close to the magic sand beach. Rosalba has everything you could possibly need: beach equipment, coolers, a BBQ, beach towels, a lot of information about the island and a great kitchen in the apartment. Rosalba was always reachable and never took more than couple of minutes to get back to us. We would definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay if you are visiting Kona. Walking distance from the beach. Rosalba was a great host, clear communication, easy and flexible check-in. There was a little issue with hot water (I'm not complaining here... those things happen) and she quickly sent someone and got it fixed literally within hours. Thanks for having us!!!

Exactly as advertised and maybe more! Quiet, quick walk to Magic Sands beach, a little further walk to white sands beach.. the apartment itself is clean and well appointed. Used AC very little as the fans worked great. The dining table is sea turtles and spectacular.. no oven but I found I really didn't need one.. cooked a pizza on low in the electric skillet.. the lanai was great to sit and sip tea or wine and read or just day dream. I'll be returning!! Jann

My wife and I would both stay here again. Rosalba was a great host! She communicated clearly and all of her descriptions were accurate. This place is just off the main drive and feels very secluded. You are just minutes from downtown. We definitely recommend staying at Rosalba's Cabana.

You must have a car to stay here. There are no local shops/bars that you can get to easily. The position relative to the beaches is fine. The apartment is reasonably well furnished but there was no cooking stove in the kitchen. This seems very odd as there is a defined space for one. There is a collection of hot plates etc for cooking. There is a good selection of beach equipment to choose from. If there are people staying above you it can get very noisy, in particular when they flush the toilet! There is a window air conditioning unit in the main living area but that is the only one in the premises and the bedroom can get very hot.

Aloha John, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at Magic Sands OluKai Cabana in June/July. We thrive on client feedback to properly ensure that we continue to meet and exceed customer satisfaction and expectations. We were saddened to find you didn’t have a vehicle to get the full experience of the Big Island. On April 9, 2017, we recommended (via AirBnB message) you to secure a car rental. Also, on June 25th, we suggested again (via AirBnB message) that you rent a vehicle for local transportation. If you take a look at our welcoming website under the “Getting Around” section, it also recommends to rent a vehicle. Although the current zoning does not allow a full-sized stove range, there are two separate “hot plates” that are excellent substitutes. We left a defined space for a full-sized one as we are actively trying to change the zoning so we can better accommodate our guests. Regarding the noise complaint, we have been working with a contractor for the past 3 months (timeline long due to the schedule of the niche contractor) and are excited to announce that effective August 8th, we will be installing state of the art, sound proof insulation. Hawaii is naturally a tropic environment that ranges from warm, to hot, to muggy. We have a window air conditioner as well as provide three ceiling fans, and 2 additional stand up fans to provide as much comfort as possible. We thank you for your feedback as it assists us on ensuring you, as well as future guests, have a truly memorable experience.
