Built by my grandfather in 1939 on the family farm, about 25 miles northeast of Monroe, Louisiana, I moved here in late 2009. The rustic, basic house has wood floors, with many windows that let in light in all directions. The main source of heat is a fireplace that sits opposite the main door to the guest room, which also has a small window unit air conditioner. While none of the rest of the house is air conditioned, most rooms have ceiling fans and there's an attic fan. This is country living.
