The Old Bill is my beautifully peaceful apartment, located in the centre of the historic town of Lewes. This red brick Edwardian building used to be the Lewes Police Station before its conversion into flats. Inside you'll be greeted by a cosy yet minimalist decor inspired by my travels around the Med and Africa, my love of languages and outdoor pursuits with my dog!
The Old Bill is super-spacious and will easily accommodate up to 4 guests in its two large double bedrooms. Located on the ground floor, the flat is all on one level and allows you direct access to the street via a small gated courtyard. What's great is that although it's on the ground floor, The Old Bill has high ceilings throughout and tall windows that help draw in plenty of sunlight.
There's a spacious open plan Kitchen, great for keeping up with the conversation going on in the lounge whilst prepping dinner. The kitchen has a cooker/oven, large fridge/freezer, washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, French press and plenty of pots/pans/plates/mugs/glasses etc. Basically, a kitchen!
The Lounge area includes a sofa and armchairs as well as a large dinning/breakfast table. One side of the lounge is fully glazed and looks out onto another, much larger, private courtyard with secure gated access to the rear of the building.
Bed 1 is very spacious, has a very comfortable King-size bed that can be divided into 2 singles if desired (the appropriate bedding will be provided if you let me know your preference when booking); you'll also find lots of built-in wardrobe space, plus a desk and office chair here for doing some work, writing or just catching up on emails. The room also has an ensuite bathroom with shower over the bathtub and a toilet.
Bed 2 is at the other extremity of the flat, and, for the anecdote...used to be where the police station's cells were. You'll be relieved to know it's far more comfortable than it (I assume!) used to be, and any trace of iron bars is now long gone with tall windows having taken their place. The room boasts a large Double bed, plenty of built-in cupboard space, plus an ensuite shower and toilet.
You'll have access to all parts of the flat - including kitchen, lounge, 2 bedrooms and their ensuite bathrooms - the exception being the 3rd bedroom that remains my private room.
I have Wifi and Unlimited Broadband Internet connection; access codes provided in your welcome booklet.

When a guest books my place, I make alternative arrangements for myself for the duration of your stay so you are guaranteed complete privacy and full use of the flat's amenities (my private room excepted). I am however but a stone's throw away, with all contact details provided for you to reach me directly in case you need anything or have a concern etc.

Lewes can be a hellish place to find parking, or affordable parking at least. With a bit of local knowledge i can help you find a place thats suitable for your needs, but here's a valuable tip from the get-go:
Cheap Parking near The Old Bill
Spring Gardens and Brook Street CarParks are a 3 min walk from the flat (behind Goringes Auctioneers)
Mon-Sat 9:00am - 5:00pm
Free outside these hours
- Removal of shoes would be hugely appreciated given fully carpeted floors.
- Respect for my neighbours and their right to peace and quiet.
- One dog welcome (community rules mean i can't accommodate more than 1, unfortunately, sorry!) but please ensure it's wiped down and paws cleaned before entering (towels provided at entrance)
Hi, i'm Rob!
A global human by nature, i've lived, studied and worked in many countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and even Algeria. I grew up in a multinational and multilingual household, so i really enjoy meeting and interacting with people from all sorts of backgrounds.
Although i've been all over the place, i care for my local community and i like to feel a part of it by doing my bit to help out, at the moment this means volunteering for a local food bank delivering food packages to families who can't get to the collection point by their own means.
The great loves of my life (other than my partner Jess!) are my two rescue sausage dogs Nero and Jarvis. My other passion is trail running, and boy am i spoilt living here in East Sussex with the South Downs Park and coastal trails at my disposal! Often, Nero comes along for a bit of Canicross, we're harnessed to each-other and can often be found out there - come rain, snow or sunshine - on an adventure run over the hills.
I strive to live by my dutch family's latin motto, "contra torrentem" which loosely translated means against the current/torrent.
