The bed is a double futon base with a memory foam mattress. The room is freshly painted with space for hanging clothes.

The apartment is the situation in the heart of a young trendy neighbourhood, with good transport links to other parts of London. 5 mins by train to Liverpool street and approx 30 min by bus into central London. A great neighbourhood with a lot to explore on the doorstep . Probably Londons most diverse neighbourhood.

A few places worth visiting and knowing about.....

NIGHT TALES, the banging beach party from the talented team behind Background Bars, has returned to Hackney Wick dispensing all kinds of street food, including a wingery, New York pizza slices and jerk chicken. Book a booth and bring your pals.

THE RICHMOND HACKNEY The Richmond's Brett Redman and Margaret Crow have just launched a new outside terrace at their Dalston hangout best known for its oysters and cocktails. Food is served until midnight at weekends.

A LITTLE OF WHAT YOU FANCY: 464 Kingsland Road. At this cheerful cafe and brunch spot, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern touches suffuse a British- Continental menu. Poached eggs with chorizo, yogurt and sumac might be Dalston's most creative breakfast;

ARCOLA THEATER: 24 Ashwin Street. Recently relocated to an updated Dalston factory space, this decade old East London theater has made a name with its combination of original in-house works and avant-garde performances by top visiting companies.

LN-CC: 18-24 Shacklewell Lane. Book an appointment on the Web site of this unmarked former boxing gym, which reopened as an ambitious concept store. The ropes and rings have been replaced by an eerily lighted sci-fi tunnel made of wood planks. The shop specializes in cult fashion labels, notably from Japan.;

CAFE OTO: 18-22 Ashwin Street. Japan is the focus at this neo-industrial three-year-old hangout. Grab a can of wasabi peas and a bottle of thehoppy house Oto Ale and join the crowds on simple thrift-store furnishings.

FARM:shop, which grows much of its own produce, raises fish in tanks surrounding the tables, and draws 20-something laptop-tappers at this between-meals hour.

DALSTON EASTERN CURVE GARDEN: 13 Dalston Lane. a community garden in an abandoned rail yard.

DALSTON ROOF GARDEN. 18 Ashwin Street. a onetime paint factory, now home to the funky Roof Park with raised herb beds and a bright turquoise shed-cum-bar serving tap beer and margaritas.

Hackney Central, Лондон, England

This is probably londons most ethnically mixed neighbourhood. Stamford Hill (a mile away) has Europe's largest community of ultra-orthodox Jews. Every culture is represented in some way - take a walk down Ridley Road Market to see it for yourself.. Turkish, Vietnamese, Greek, Indian, Pakistan, Polish, West African and Caribbean communities are all here (to name a few..!)

What the press have said about Dalston….

The Times.... "With its arts studios, late-night bars and Art Deco cinema, Dalston has been "up and coming" for years. But the East London extension of the London Overground appears to have been the catalyst that the area needed to thrive.The increasingly trendy reputation of London E8 means that tenant demand is booming …The East London line extension opened almost a year ago; it takes 15 minutes to reach the Jubilee line at Canada Water, via a District line connection at Whitechapel. A further extension opened recently, connecting to Dalston Kingsland station and on to Highbury & Islington, where the Victoria line runs into Central London.

The New York Times.." You can learn a lot about Dalston, a district in East London, from the storefront for the Mr. Bagel restaurant. On one side, a bright orange sign announces, ''We do Indian and Caribbean food.'' Opposite, Arabic script spells out the word ''halal.'' A traditionally Jewish area, this remote pocket of East London has, in recent years, begun absorbing immigrants from around the globe, transforming it into a multiethnic working-class enclave. Now, thanks in part to the recent extension of the London Overground rail lines -- which added two new stations in the formerly hard-to-reach neighborhood -- Dalston is welcoming its latest wave of new arrivals: young creative types and self-styled bohemians in search of a lively vibe. The result is a new crop of cafes, bars and boutiques that are worth a visit."

London Evening Standard.. “East London's Dalston Superstore, XOYO and Passing Clouds all get world-famous DJs and many nights are free. Ridley Road Market bar has Red Stripe for £2.50 and fun £5 cocktails…East London is, of course, perfect for a budget gastronomical tour and many restaurants, such as world-class Chinese Gourmet San on Bethnal Green Road, are BYOB .Some of the best theatre is also the cheapest. The Royal Court often does pay-what-you-like nights, while The Yard Theatre in Hackney charges about £6 and The Queen of Hoxton is showing films on its roof for £8.50. There's a barbecue and live music up there too.

Time Out..."From graffitti to gallery How did our city become a hub for the world's finest urban artists?..London is now a global destination for street art, particularly the boroughs of Hackney with Shoreditch and Brick Lane at the epicentre and emerging cutting-edge scenes in Dalston, Hackney Wick and Clapton… Street art has come so far now that it informs the cultural identity of east London and is fully engaged with communities. Many pieces are today done legally with the blessing of building owners. These progressive attitudes are on a par with South American cities such as Buenos Aires and S"o Paulo…"

The Metro "Stoke Newington or Stokey, as it is fondly known - is one of London's most desirable villages, combining the best of neighbouring Islington and Hackney while holding on to its own distinct character. Its two main streets are chichi Church Street, alive with independent shops, restaurants and bars, and the grittier High Street, domain of pound shops, convenience stores, butchers and banks. The latter connects the Hasidic neighbourhood of Stamford Hill to the north and vibrant Dalston to the east."
