Delightful self-contained cabin in beautiful Cuckmere valley, twin or double. Private terrace facing south towards Long Man of Wilmington. Disabled access, wood stove, wet room, wifi, TV, parking. Half mile to Sussex Ox pub, 1 mile Alfriston.

Jackson's cabin has been a honey farm and a stable, situated in the garden of our house in Milton Street, a quiet rural location just half a mile from the A27, 2 miles from Berwick station and 4 miles from Polegate. It has its own parking space, ramped access for wheelchairs and a private south facing terrace, part-covered with an oak and glass canopy, facing on to fields and the Long Man of Wilmington, an ancient chalk figure carved into the slope of the South Downs.

There are three rooms plus a utility lobby:

Kitchen/living room with wood stove plus electric heater, table and chairs, comfortable seating, freesat TV. Open plan kitchen area has electric oven and hob, fridge and is well-equipped for home cooking. There is also a microwave.

Bedroom with double or twin beds (6ft 6in long), high quality cotton sheets and towels provided, electric heater;

Accessible wet room/WC with underfloor heating and wash basin.

The cabin has been carefully converted to provide a comfortable, cosy and beautiful space. Perfectly situated for walkers, cyclists or horse riders, we are on the Weald Way and close to the South Downs Way and Vanguard Way. We have a field to accommodate your horse if you are riding.

Jackson's Cabin is 8 miles (16 minutes drive) from Glyndebourne, and within half an hour of Eastbourne, Lewes and Brighton. Charleston Farmhouse and Berwick Church, adorned by Bloomsbury artists, are within a few minutes drive. The historic village of Alfriston with its post office, shops, pubs and restaurants is 1 mile away, and the excellent Sussex Ox pub with its good food and beer is 5 minutes walk along a lane where starry skies are unspoilt by street lights.

Guests have their own off-road parking space 30 metres from the cabin, accessed by a path. They have sole use of the three rooms of the cabin plus its utility lobby, the covered terrace and outdoor sitting area. Most of our garden is not for guests' use.

The cabin is detached and a few metres from the main house. Hosts and guests may see each other come and go, but the cabin's door, terrace and principal windows face south on to a field with uninterrupted views of the Downs and guests enjoy privacy.

We will be on hand or available by telephone to answer questions or attend to any problems, and can provide the use of a washing machine if required.

We may not always be at home during guests' stay. A combination lock entry system is in operation.

We are in the middle of one of the most beautiful spots in the South-East and enjoy easy access to the Downs, the sea and many picturesque villages without using the car. It's possible to cycle to the beach at Cuckmere Haven in half an hour (or drive there in 10 minutes) and enjoy miles of quiet lanes in every direction without using the A27. As keen walkers we are privileged to live within a network of excellent footpaths and national trails.

We are close to the A27 which is linked to the A23/M23 and the national motorway network. Gatwick airport is one hour away by car. If you are using public transport, we are 2 miles from Berwick station and 4 miles from Polegate. Buses serve nearby villages, weekly rather than daily.

Included:
Linen and towels, toilet paper and soap, logs and kindling for the wood stove.
Tea, coffee, milk, muesli and snacks to get you started.

Perfect little hideaway, with cosy log burner and sonos speakers for relaxed evenings in.

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary but no inclusive holiday abroad compares to this beautiful cabin. The location is perfect! In the morning you wake up to the sun rising over the South Downs and at night you can cosy up with a cup of tea or glass of wine by the fire. The cabin is situated among many different hiking routes so you don't need to worry about driving to a specific route. There are many pubs in the village next door and a vintage general store which sells everything you need. The pictures of the cabin are very good but when you're there you realise that there is a lot more to this cabin. It really did feel like home. The owners are very lovely people and not at all intrusive. The best hosts you could get on Air BnB. Definitely coming back!

We had a completely brilliant time in Alison’s cabin. We could have been in the middle of nowhere but the nearest village (Alfriston) is just down the road and the local pub is a short walk through country roads. We had the weather with us so the idyllic views over the hills to the LongMan were incredible. Without the weather, the cabin would have been just as fantastic! Well designed and laid out we enjoyed ourselves to the full. We didn’t lack anything can’t wait to return. The perfect romantic retreat.

this is a gem of a find and you can choose to go forget your car which is what we did. The cabin is well equipped, comfortable and full of 'things to do' as well as being ideally situated for long or short walks from the doorstep. it is completely private with a spectacular view of the longman

We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely cosy cabin. It had everything we would expect from an air bnb but a lot more as well. We had some special requests that were accommodated by our hosts who we found to be warm, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for those wanting immediate access to the Downs near a cosy pub and a quaint town. Would definitely recommend.

I am an artist and arborist, who teaches painting locally and runs painting holidays. I live at Milton Street with my husband Charlie who is a green oak carpenter. We walk on the Downs every day with our dog, and love to discover the landscape and its history by taking long hikes.

Being an Airbnb host since September 2013 has enabled us to share this beautiful part of the world with many lovely people from near and far. It's been without exception a positive experience.
