We were in Montreal on Columbus Day weekend (Thanksgiving in Canada) for a hockey tournament at the Camilien-Houde Arena, so this home was an ideal place for us to stay, being walking distance to the rink.
Wissem and Maite were excellent hosts. Since we were in and out so much, we did not interact very often with our hosts. They were there when we needed them, but otherwise they let us do our thing.
We came in very late on Friday night, but thanks to their excellent communication, we were able to check in and obtain the keys.
Our bedrooms were in the basement. The bedrooms were clean and the beds were a good size. There is no bathroom in the basement, so we shared the bathroom (which is on the first floor) with our hosts. This was probably the only inconvenience - having to walk upstairs (especially in the middle of the night in a new place) to use the facilities. Only one time during our stay was there contention for the bathroom between our hosts and ourselves.
The ceiling in the basement is low in a few areas due to the main beam of the house. I bumped my head a few times, but learned quickly to duck.
The common area in the basement was nice, and allowed us to spread out our hockey gear, rather than taking up all the space in the bedrooms. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly in the bedrooms and elsewhere.
The kitchen was fine, and we stored some of our food and drinks in the refrigerator with no problem. There is also a small back deck that overlooks a courtyard. A nice touch.
Wissem and Maite have a bedroom that is just off the kitchen, so we had to be cognizant and respectful when coming and going, especially when returning home late at night.
The bathroom was clean, and the shower had excellent pressure. Again, we just had to be aware not to walk out of the shower area in a towel, since the bathroom is on the main floor, and our bedrooms were downstairs. I think if the owner could install a bathroom in the basement area, it would be much better for guests who need additional bathroom privacy. For us, it wasn't a big deal, but I wanted to note it.
Parking is on-street, but we found a spot right around the corner, and kept the car there the entire weekend.
Overall, we had an excellent stay. We have been to Montreal for this same tournament several times in the past, and I must say that the convenience of being able to walk to the rink and to have our vehicle nearby all the time made this a very enjoyable and stress-free trip.
