The cottage was built in 1901 and has been fully restored. It is the perfect luxury getaway just for two with loch views. Furnished to a high standard with mid century British and Danish furniture and original art. There is an open plan living room and kitchen, and upstairs there is a cosy bedroom and bathroom. The bed is super comfy and has Egyptian cotton linen. There is an interesting selection of books and games and a bluetooth speaker, so you can play music from your device and a CD player.
The property has been lovingly restored by Zoe and has original art from her Art Gallery in nearby Castle Douglas. The open plan space downstairs has a beautiful oak parquet floor. There is an electric stove and individually controlled radiators. The kitchen has everything you need including a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer and NEFF cooker with induction hob. Under the stairs there is plenty of space for coats and shoes, a Dyson vacuum cleaner and an ironing board. There is a TV with FreeSat and a DVD player - Simon has curated a selection of DVDs spanning various genres - there should be something for everyone! All the rooms have been painted using Farrow & Ball paints and there is a striking wall of wallpaper on the stairway.
You can park at the front of the cottage (cars left at your own risk). There is an enclosed garden at the back of the property and a lockable garage. Guests are welcome to use the garage to store bikes etc but this is at your own risk.
Two adults only - no additional people may stay at the property.
I do not charge a cleaning fee - please leave the cottage as clean and tidy as you found it. Take care of the furnishings and use the coasters and table mats to protect the lovely Ercol dining table.
I would appreciate it if you took your outdoor shoes off in the cottage so bring your slippers please :-)
Zoe and Simon live nearby and will be able to tell you what's going on in the region during your stay. There are interesting walks from the village but you will need a car to explore Galloway.
I run an art gallery in South West Scotland. I love living in this quiet unspoiled part of Scotland with my husband Simon. We also enjoy traveling and seeing other parts of the world. Favourite holidays in the last few years have been to Iceland and New York.
