Silver Islet is on the Sleeping Giant (Sibley Peninsula) at the end of Highway 587. Enjoy nature's beauty, privacy, peace and quiet and beach access on this peninsula 3 bedroom home with 2 acres. Silver Islet is an historic, off grid cottage community adjacent to the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, where you can enjoy the best this region has to offer. The modern bungalow house is furnished and outfitted so all you have to do is bring your clothes and food.
Silver Islet, one hour east of Thunder Bay Ontario, is adjacent to The Sleeping Giant Provincial Park with its numerous hiking trails, fishing, paddling. Being located ON The Sleeping Giant, it is a place of great historic and cultural importance. This choice property is known as President's Point -where the President of the 1800's silver mine chose to locate his summer home. (the Sleeping Giant is named Sibley Peninsula named after the President of the Silver Islet Mining Company Alexander Sibley). Once the locale of soirees including investors and royalty from Europe and the USA - now you can enjoy the beauty, peace and quiet, sun, water, beach, sauna and the historic Silver Islet community. You can read all about the historical and mythological roots of Silver Islet but the real remarkable beauty is found in the lake, the land and the sky and the peace and quiet of nature. There is something magical about the billions of stars overhead and the seasonal addition of meteor showers and/or the northern lights. I have had occasion to witness all of these light shows at once.
You will have full access to the the cottage (except one locked storage room), 2 decks, BBQ, all fully furnished including deck furniture. You will also have access to the sauna and beach fire pit. The 2 acre lot with 2 beaches (one rocky and one pebbly) are on the property and the sandy beach (community owned) is adjacent to the property. There is a biffy (outhouse) also available for guest use.

The property manager is located in the community and is the retired Park Superintendent. He will greet you and give you the introductory tour to the property. He knows everyone and everything - so is a great resource to give you pointers and tips about Silver Islet and environs.
Другие важные подробности
If you are availing of the Park's many fantastic trails and locales (my favourite is Middlebrun Beach) you will want to get a parking pass to park in any of the trail-head parking lots. They will ticket cars without the pass.
The cottage is off grid. No electricity, no wifi, no TV. We do have a telephone that runs on battery. The fridge and stove are propane powered. We have some propane lights and some that are solar charged. We ask guests to use the biffy (outhouse) for #2.
