I love meeting guests!! I love the Mojave Desert and surrounding communities!! But lately it seems I am obligated to travel more than I would like. So while it's not always possible to know your arrival times to allow me to meet with you, I will email you the codes (changed after every guest) to open the lock boxes with a key inside for the gate as well as another one with the front door key. • PLACE KITCHEN and BATHROOM TRASH IN OUTSIDE TRASH CANS.
•TURN OFF ALL HEATING AND COOLING UNITS and thermostats. UNPLUG ANY HEATERS. From October through March, please leave the oil-filled radiator on the number 1 setting so that the pipes do not freeze.

• CLOSE AND LOCK ALL WINDOWS SO "RED DOT" DOES NOT SHOW.
• DEADBOLT BOTH DOORS
• RETURN KEYS TO LOCK BOXES
• MAKE SURE GATE IS PROPERLY LOCKED

NON-COMPLIANCE TO ANY OF THESE TERMS MAY RESULT IN A FORFEIT OF YOUR SECURITY FEE.

• OCCUPANCY - This is a small 1950’s homestead cabin that can cozily accommodate four to six adults and six people is the maximum overnight occupancy. Any guests or visitors above the number the booking was made for must be announced beforehand, even if they're "not staying over!" Thank you!

• FURNISHINGS – Furniture, bedding, mattress pads, books, utensils or any other property supplied with the rental property must not be taken. Thanks!

• AMENITIES – Extra bed linens (stored in black leatherette ottoman), bath towels, and some basic toiletries are provided with the room but are not changed during your stay. We have a first aid kit in the bathroom cabinet.

• WASTE – We try hard to not create more garbage for the desert landfill than necessary. We encourage our guests to use our compost bucket (currently MIA, ;-( ) for food-scraps and NOT throw food in the Garbage Disposal. We also highly praise our guests who recycle (We have a special bin just for recycling bottles and plastic)!

• SEPTIC SYSTEM – Our system is fragile! Please human biological waste and heavily soiled toilet paper allowed in toilet; do not flush bulky material such as tampons, cotton balls or a lot of paper down the toilet. All other waste goes into trash can provided. Please be aware there will be a $150 claim charge against security fee for clogging up toilet. USE ONLY BIODEGRADABLE NON-TOXIC LAUNDRY SOAP (LIKE ECOS), NO BLEACH OR CHEMICALS. Thank you for understanding!

• WOOD-BURNING STOVE – The wood-burning stove is available only for guests who are able to watch over the fire the whole time it is burning until it is thoroughly extinguished before leaving the area or retiring for the night. Firewood may be purchased at most local stores and gas stations, we suggest using fire starters or presto logs before adding pine.

• OUTSIDE FIREPIT – ANY FIRES OUT DOORS MUST BE IN THE FIRE PIT, PLEASE NO FIRES IN TRASH CANS OR ON THE GROUND. Make sure to use the cover screen when burning an outdoor fire in the firepit. Sparks fly when the wind blows and brush fires are a real risk here, so douse the pit with water if in doubt when you are finished.

• SMOKING - No smoking or vaping is allowed inside the cabin. Guests are welcome to smoke (420 compliant) or vape outside, but it's your responsibility to manage cigarette butt disposal. EXTINGUISH ALL SMOKING MATERIAL IN ASHTRAYS OR BUTT CANS.

• PETS – Well behaved dog(s) are welcome provided the Guest will take full responsibility for proper waste disposal and any property damage that
may occur. Although we are dog-friendly, please keep your dog(s) off the bed and couches. Please pick up your dog waste and place it in the outside trash. TIP: I use foil on the furniture to keep dog(s) off when I go to bed and there is an aluminum shovel by the igloo doghouse. Please note: We do NOT accept cats or other kinds of pets in our cabin. PLEASE KEEP THE GATE CLOSED AT ALL TIMES when you are on the property or you leave to go sightseeing.

• KEYS – Please replace the key(s) in the appropriate lockbox room before checking out. If key(s) is lost there is a $10 replacement fee each.

• Owner reserves the right to enter premises at any time to check on safety of tenants and cabin.
• ACTS OF GOD – Owner shall not be liable and cannot offer a refund for events beyond their control which may interfere with Guest(s) occupancy, including but not limited to Acts of God, acts of governmental agencies, fire, strikes, war, or inclement weather.

• INDEMNIFICATION and HOLD HARMLESS – Guest(s) agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Owner for any liabilities, theft, damage, cost or expense whatsoever arising from or related to any claim or litigation which may arise out of or in connection with Guest(s) use and occupancy of the rental property including but not limited to any claim or liability for personal injury or damage or theft of property which is made, incurred or sustained by Guest(s).

• Any film or photo related bookings need explicit permission prior to putting in a reservation request. Regardless of the particular budget, we have to charge additional fees due to the nature of these bookings and our prior experiences. Thank you for complying.

Being that this was my first airbnb experience, I didn't know what to expect. Loren, the host was in constant communication with me and really put me at ease. The place is easily found and the dirt roads the last little bit are named and very well maintained. Of course I chose to go during a heat wave, but surprisingly by the time I went to sleep the place was quite comfortable with the swamp cooler running. Giant Rock, Goat Mountain and the Integratron are all nearby. It was a wonderful little get away and I've already requested another stay!

The spot was great for watching the best meteor shower of the year, we even got a lightning show far away behind the mountain as the moon came up! The only big issue we had was that it was almost uninhabitable during the summer with just a small AC unit and two ceiling fans, one in the kitchen and one in one of the rooms. With 6 people, it got pretty warm and we were unable to cook like we had planned for fear that it would make it too hot to sleep. The other minor issue was the self-timer lights that came on while we were sleeping. It was a little difficult to make sure all 6 of us knew and remembered all of the rules to the ranch so it was a little stressful doing a walk through before we left to make sure nobody messed with the timers, accidentally took any off-limits drinks/snacks and didn't move anything. I think with a little tweaking, this place will be better for our next stay, the location was perfect and the ranch was nice and neat!

In response to Lisa's comment about the swamp/evap cooler not working, she did not mention this at all and I am not sure if she understood how one works correctly. I even texted her instructions. FYI: If thunderstorms are present with humidity, it will not cool. Here are the instructions in the house manual: Summer: The evap cooler control is on the wall and after you turn turn it on, should operate on its own accord. PLEASE open one window BEFORE turning on the evap cooler; this allows for the cooler to blow the air into the house and out through the window. If not, please let me know and use the A/C unit. Regarding the light timers (as we have them for security being in such an isolated location), this was also in the manual: There are outside security lights that go off and on; please do NOT tamper with them. There are also inside light timers. You can switch the light off or on from the timer itself, but please return them to their timer ON position when checking out. Lisa did text me asking how to turn them off, and I told her so they could view the night skies. Also with regards to the "off-limit drinks" in the side by side fridge (in the manual): There are condiments, teas, and various other sundries available for your use. If you drink the beer or wine, please replace what you have used or you will be charged $10 for a bottle of wine and $3 for a single beer. Basically everything she mentioned here was actually addressed and quite clear in the house manual. It is a 1950s Homestead Cabin, not a Palm Springs home. It is rural and rustic.

Cute, quiet, comfortable little getaway. Perfect place to stay if you're going to be doing some hiking at Joshua Tree and wanna stay a bit further away from the city. It was so quaint that I didn't want to leave. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed here with a group of friends for a two-night weekend getaway. Overall we had a nice, relaxing experience. We were six people total in a VERY intimate space. Two people slept in each of the two bedrooms and two stayed in the living/dining area. My pre-trip communication with Lorren was clear and easy. She was very responsive. I even contacted her the night before to add one additional person and she replied right away, which made it possible for them to come. Pros: I expressed concerns around my dog allergies prior to booking since dogs are allowed at the lodge. Lorren assured me that she would make sure the house was dander free and it was. I did not run into any issues. The location is great if you want to enjoy simplicity and decompress. It's quiet, secluded and there's so little light at night that you can see the milky way. We thoroughly enjoyed our late night talks around the fire pit and grilling over an open flame. It's about a mile for Integratron too, so if you're going to the sound bath you don't have far to drive after. Cons: There weren't enough utensils for all six of us, which we discovered in the morning during breakfast. I had a few place settings in my car's emergency kit so we were fine, but I feel that the lodge should be equipt for the maximum number of occupants advertised, especially since it's a bit of a drive to the nearest store. I brought this to Lorren's attention and based on her responsiveness I'm confident she'll take care of it for the next guests. There were also some dirty coffee mugs which we cleaned ourselves. If you're looking for a basic, cost-conscious place for a desert getaway Ranch du Soleil is great.

Lorren is a great host, we had a good time in her cozy little ranch and even made friends with a coachwhip snake who came by to visit us. We will come back.

This is a cozy, private and funky spot with a lot of charm and personal touches from the owners. Great if you want quiet and privacy and like eclectic decor. Drive to pappys takes about 25 min.

This was a really nice, quiet place to stay in Landers near Joshua Tree. It's a small cabin, but there is a kitchen, bathroom and hot water, wood burning stove and heaters...pretty much everything you need in the desert.
