We booked this place based on availability on AirBnB. We messaged the host through AirBnB messages in the morning of our arrival asking what the check-in process was and got no response. We turned up at the building in the evening and tried checking in and they had no keys ready …

There was a technical glitch in the system that was confirmed by Airbnb. We have our calendars linked, so that anytime a new booking is made in our property management software, the corresponding dates are blocked off in the Airbnb calendar as well. We had received a booking at 10 AM on 8/3 in the same unit you had booked. We received your booking at 1:45 PM on 8/3 because the dates were not blocked off in Airbnb (due to the glitch in the system). When I spoke with Airbnb on the phone and asked how often the calendars are refreshed and updated, they said it is usually very quick (30 minutes or less). When I asked why after almost 4 hours of having the dates reserved in our software, the calendar on Airbnb was still not updated and blocked, they said it was a glitch in the system and that they would look into it and fix it asap. You did not call me the morning of your arrival date--you didn't even book it until the afternoon. When you had called to check-in (the first time you called) I answered and was a little confused at first because I thought the calendar was already blocked off. I did apologize when we were on the phone nonetheless and offered to upgrade you to an ocean view one bedroom suite with free parking at the Waikiki Banyan. I didn't apologize in the text because I had already apologized on the phone, and the mistake was not because of anything on my part. The text message I sent was merely a courtesy message letting you know what had happened when I talked to Airbnb. The last we had talked you said you did not want the alternative I suggested and demanded that I call Airbnb and figure things out with them so that you could get your refund, so the intent of the text message that I sent was to put your mind at ease that Airbnb was going to be waiving all fees and giving you a full refund. I did everything I could to help you out in the situation and it is truly unfortunate that you have such a negative outlook on me and how I handled everything. I hope you enjoyed your time on Oahu regardless, and that you were able to find the perfect place. Take care!
