Let me just start by saying that this was the first AirBnB I had ever booked. I reached out to Kim & Rupert just to inquire about their AirBnB, and they kindly took the time to guide me through the process of becoming an AirBnB guest, complete with steps for verification and profile/bio feedback, since it was all very new to me. And that was before I even booked with them!
Kim & Rupert are wonderful, worldly people, and gracious, accommodating hosts. They keep their spacious basement unit very clean and tidy, and ensure comfort and peace of mind.
My mother and I came in from Cleveland to explore a little of both NYC and Brooklyn during our 4-day trip, and Kim & Rupert's thorough and comprehensive House Manual proved very useful in planning our days. And their knowledge goes far beyond all they provide in their manual! Up until our arrival, and even as we went along day to day, any questions we had for Kim & Rupert about commuting, about dining and sightseeing, about amenities within their AirBnB, were answered promptly and completely. We had so many questions, sometimes piled on one after another, and Kim & Rupert were nothing but helpful and supportive. And they didn't mind following our lead in terms of how often we communicated with one another - they gave us total space to "do our thing."
The basement itself was clean and comfortable. The soft bed, the waterfall shower, and the modern washer and dryer were our favorite features. The high quality pillows, blankets, sheets and towels were a wonderful commodity, too. The dual security of a front door deadbolt and front gate padlock made us feel extra safe. (And if you are a light sleeper like my mom, the standing fan can help block out the noise from upstairs or outside.)
Every morning we would get up, walk to one of the local coffee shops, and then we were off! The journey to Manhattan is a long one - we honestly were happy to stay on the Brooklyn side for half of our trip and enjoy what the wonderfully diverse borough has to offer. (We could have spent all 4 days just within an hour walking distance of Kim & Rupert's neighborhood and still not have enough time to do it all. There is so much close by!)
This truly was a wonderful experience, and both my mother and I are so appreciative of Kim & Rupert and everything they did to help make our trip a memorable one!
