However, due to our limited workforce, we can only take one choice of breakfast menu for your group every morning.
Upon request, we will clean up the house during your stay (sweeping/mopping the floor and making up the bed). Putting it in city perspective, our property is a perfect hub to get around. It is only 100 meter separated from the main street, Taman Siswa, one of the most vibrant areas in the city. Along Taman Siswa, you can find a variety of eateries (from western, far eastern, to local favorites such as bakmi Jawa) as well as drug/convenient stores. Our distance to main tourist destinations in the city center is only 3 km or less (Kraton, Taman Sari water castle, Alun-Alun Kidul, Pasar Ngasem, Pasar Beringharjo, Benteng Vredeburg, Taman Pintar dll) and similar distance to Kotagede, the old Mataram capital in the southeast. You can reach them with motorbikes you can rent from us or through pedicab (becak) drivers we can arrange for you.

We believe traveling is also about living the local culture. We expect you to be able to blend in the local customs and norms by keeping the noise minimum (particularly between 9pm to 7am) and respecting the locals and their norms. The locals will pay you back with their smiles and hospitality.
Turning off all electrical equipment when not in use would be very much appreciated.
We kindly inform you that at the moment, there is a construction work next to our property. The work is carried out during the day, between 8am to 4pm. It may impact your stay, but we have asked the workers (they work manually so far, without big engine) to keep the noise at minimum to ensure you, and also us (who live in the same land plot), have comfortable staying/living there.
- We expect you to follow local norms and regulations, which include no drunk behavior, appropriate behavior and dress in public, and use minimum noise between 9pm to 7am
With tremendous support from our two toddlers, Maryam and I run this Bale Pandoem homestay. We both didn't originally come from Jogja. Maryam came from East Java, while me from northern coast of Central Java. But we fell in love with this city, me at first (I finished my undergrad here) and later Maryam (who moved to Jogja after our marriage).
We both are graduates from Flinders University in Adelaide, with special interests in politics (in broader spectrum), gender and social work. We felt blessed to have the opportunities in the past to travel as family to several ASEAN countries, Australia and some part of Europe. Through this experience, we learned from the first hand how to treat travelers, how to make their stay comfortable, and their trip memorable.
Currently we are developing interests in interior design related matters, particularly those which is childrenproof and use local/recycled materials and diy.
