Spacious "basement" apartment two blocks from Magazine St. in the Uptown area near the Garden District with two PRIVATE bedrooms, not shotgun style!
The house is an Arts & Crafts/Mission style "basement house", an historically significant style built in New Orleans in the early 20th century in which the main living area was upstairs and the downstairs was an unfinished or simply finished "basement" (We don't have true below ground basements in New Orleans due to the high water table, so the basement is really just a ground level floor). These were originally utilitarian work spaces. The Pabst family, who built the house in 1925, operated their plumbing business here. Our apartment is painted historically correct Arts & Crafts colors and pays homage to its industrious past with industrial style furnishings.
Guests have the whole apartment to themselves. Off street parking is plentiful and you can usually find a spot right next to the house (unless it's a day on which there are Mardi Gras parades, in which case it's best to park early and leave your car or else you will likely lose your spot). Basic expanded cable TV and WiFi are included.
Другие важные подробности
This is an old house in an even older neighborhood. You'll be living in your own apartment among beautiful homes and gardens, great food, music, shopping, and friendly, quirky residents. If you prefer character over perfection and want to experience what it feels like to live in the Magazine St corridor, you may never want to leave. However, if you prefer the travel experience offered by a full service hotel, please be aware that this likely isn't the right place for you.
