Our cosy single room is ideal for the single business person, tourist or golfer for 1 to 14 night stays. It has all the essentials for a relaxing time, plus unlimited WiFi and a hearty, healthy continental breakfast. Guests have full use of our private drive - a huge asset as parking in Deal town can be problematic and costly. We are situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, a pleasant 15 minute walk to the town, seafront, rail/bus stations. We are in an ideal position for the Port of Dover & Eurotunnel.
We have a spacious, comfortable, single room to let in our Edwardian semi-detached house (named "Leigh" since 1906) with a homely, relaxed ambience.
The room is situated at the top of our landing immediately to the left and the bathroom is just a few paces away.
Guests are provided with a front door key, and have freedom of access any time, day or night.
Our buffet breakfast includes a variety of cereals, fresh home-baked bread, home-made fresh fruit smoothies, preserves, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, orange juice and a variety of teas and fresh coffee. Should you have any dietary requirements please let us know.
The guest room is lockable and has a comfortable new single bed, a selection of towels, dressing gown, slippers, bedside table & lamp, wardrobe, alarm clock, mirror, universal/world-wide travel adapters, TV, Radio, and unlimited WiFi. There are also hot drink-making facilities including a kettle, Tassimo automatic coffee machine, a selection of teas & coffees, bottled water and fresh orange.
During your stay you will have the facilities of our private drive, shower, bath, ground floor cloakroom, kitchen/dining room, garden and fast internet access. We provide a selection of shower gels, shampoos and bubble bath. Our guests have sole use of the main bathroom as we have our own facilities downstairs.
We can accommodate babies or young children at no extra charge. In this connection we ask that our guest provides their own baby travel cot, but we do have an electric airbed suitable for a young child.
Our spacious kitchen and dining room can be used to prepare snacks and light meals and for eating takeaway food.
For extended stays and emergency situations, our washing machine and tumble dryer can be used free of charge.
In the warmer season we invite our guests to use our secluded, mature garden and extensive patio area.
We can offer transportation to and from Deal or Dover railway or bus station.
Our house is in a quiet road in a friendly neighbourhood and is within walking distance from Deal seafront, town, restaurants, pubs, railway station and bus terminus.
We are in an ideal position for travelling to France as the Port of Dover is only 20 minutes away and Eurotunnel 40 minutes.
The local area;
Deal was awarded "High Street of the Year" in 2014 by the Daily Telegraph and listed as one of the thirty best places to visit for a weekend retreat by The Times newspaper the same year. The town has a variety of shops - apart from supermarket chains Sainsbury's, Co-op and Marks & Spencer, there are there are a number of olde worlde shops in the conservation area of the town. There is a Saturday market which is ideal for vintage appreciators, plus The Astor traditional community theatre. Tides Leisure & Indoor Tennis Centre is a multi-sports centre with a fantastic leisure pool, brand new 4 court indoor tennis centre, sports hall, health and fitness club and sauna/steam suite. We have local general shops, pubs, bus services to Canterbury (15 miles), Sandwich (5 miles) and Dover (8 miles). There is a fast train service from Deal to London on the high-speed Javelin train. Deal is popular amongst anglers and offers sea, lake and pier fishing. There is some wonderful picturesque scenery for walkers and cyclists with bike hire facilities adjacent to Deal station.
Canterbury is packed with history and heritage and the skyline is dominated by the stunning Cathedral which was founded in 1597. Canterbury is not only packed with history but is also full of vibrant restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, clubs and the popular Marlowe Theatre. A favourite tourist attraction are the historic tours on the River Stour which runs through the City.
Dover, Deal and Sandwich;
The White Cliff country is a stunning area of England where beautiful countryside meets the world famous cliffs. There are three famous castles in Deal Castle, Dover and Walmer, plus vineyards, breweries and other historical sites. There is some stunning wildlife and scenery at Port Lymph (Folkestone) and Howletts (Canterbury) Wild Animal Parks. There are a number of golf courses in the area including the Royal Cinque Ports (Deal) and Royal St George's (Sandwich)
For those wishing to travel further afield there are historical sites at Down House (Charles Darwin) near Orpington, Lamb House (Henry James) in Rye and Leeds Castle near Maidstone.
There are extensive shopping malls at Westwood Cross (Broadstairs), Ashford Designer outlet, and Bluewater and Lakeside near Dartford.
The quaint town of Whitstable is not only famous for it’s oysters and fine eateries, but also one of the county’s most picturesque towns.

The Kings Head, Beach Street, Deal CT14 7EH. Probably the most popular pub for it's prime location on the seafront, and has been a favourite eatery for a number of our guests as they serve tasty home cooked food throughout the day.
The Sir Norman Wisdom (J D Wetherspoon), 18-20 Queen Street, Deal CT14 6ET. This latest acquisition is good for our town in terms of eating and drinking out at a manageable price. Food is served up until 11pm every day.
The Farrier (Formerly The Admiral Keppel), 90 Manor Road, CT14 9DB
Reputedly the oldest pub in Deal, The Farrier is a traditional black & white beamed pub. It's charming and friendly environment makes for a relaxing place to have a drink and a chat, is only a five minute walk from our house and Real ales are just £2.80 a pint.
The Ship Inn, Middle Street, Deal CT14 7DY -
Just a few minutes walk from the town centre this unspoilt, traditional pub is located in Deal's historic conservation area, just off the seafront.
They offer a range of traditional real ales and have a "happy half hour" from 5pm - 5.30pm when everything is half price!

Our Guests have their own designated parking space on our private drive for the duration of their stay.
Guests have privacy on entering our house as our stairs are immediately to the left at the beginning of our hallway.
Our bathroom has a spacious walk-in powerful shower and deep bath. We have a ground floor cloakroom, dining/breakfast room, large bright well-equipped kitchen, secluded garden with mature shrubs and flower beds and an extensive patio area.

As we are in easy reach of the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel, our provision of accepting one night bookings is popular with those guests who are taking channel crossings. In this connection we are always happy to cater for late evening arrivals and provide an early breakfast on the morning of departure.
We provide a front door key.
Our large kitchen and dining room can be used to prepare snacks and light meals and for eating takeaway food.
Bicycles can be left securely round the back of our house, via our side gate.
If guests have any large items of luggage they do not require to keep in their room, these can be stored in our study.
We are happy for smokers to use our back garden and ash trays are provided.
We can be flexible with arrival/departure & breakfast times, if appropriate.
We have a friendly and inquisitive tabby cat named Bob.

We would appreciate no loud music or hot food eaten in the guest room.
However, we are happy for takeaway food to be eaten in our dining room and light snacks can be prepared in our kitchen.
Breakfast is available up to 10.00 a.m. each morning, and we are always pleased to provide an early departure breakfast.
It is fine for our guests to smoke outside the house.

I am early retired from full-time employment as a University Administrator. I relocated from Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire to Deal, Kent in September 2010 with my husband Paul. I enjoy walking, yoga, cooking, voluntary work, reading, music, theatre & cinema.
