If you need to stay in this neighborhood, I would look for a different place. Eytan was very difficult to deal with, rude and tried to take advantage of us. The place itself was reasonably clean and tidy, but simply not worth the price. For the same money you can find dramatically better, overall.
There is only one small window by the front door so that it is very much like a basement apartment. There is no view from inside the apartment.
Two weeks in advance, we requested to modify the dates of our reservation due to an emergency that came up.
Eytan said he wanted to just keep things as they were and "see what would happen" in terms of finding someone else for those dates.
It was clear to us that our reservation meant that those dates would show up as NOT available on Airnb and it seemed to us that Eytan was playing games. We strongly spoke up about that and he agreed to the date modifcation. However, The night before our reservation was to start, Eytan suddenly tried to demand an additional 100 nis, and wrote as if we had never made the formal modification.
Another example is that his original listing states he requires a security deposit of $143; however, after we made our reservation, in the Airnb Itinerary he sent us, he changed it to (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) nis, depending on the length of the stay. By this point, we became so alarmed by his behavior and all the "red flags" of possibly even more trouble that we wanted to just go elsewhere and not deal with this man. We called Airnb for help but by the time they finished their review of the problem, and responded, it was too late.
Once we arrived to check in, in the very brief 5 minutes in person with Eytan to get the key, etc, he proceeded to insult my wife, saying that it didn't look like we were really together even though the reservation had both of our names, and that she seemed more like my(real estate) agent. In his messages to us asking when we would be arriving on the day of the reservation, instead of saying anything nice, he only said we should make sure to check out no later than noon. The next day, a sunday morning, he sent us a message at 9:05am: "Good Morning,"what time are you leaving?
