The Dales Way long distance path from Ilkley to Bowness passes the front gate. There are lots of lovely walks from the door ,riverside ,woodland, and high fells.
Unique comfortable and typically Cumbrian residence built in 1847 retaining old features.
The kitchen and bathroom downstairs have original charming beamed ceilings (limited headroom for anybody over 6'2")
The kitchen contains full size electric hob with grill and oven, fridge with small freezer compartment, toaster, kettle, microwave all usual good quality cutlery ,glasses and crockery and essential implements- but no gadgets and no dish washer!
There are a great variety of eating places in the area from the very top end Michelin starred to pub food ,cafes and fish and chips.
There is a lovely garden all around. The azaleas are spectacular in May.
Private off road parking for one guest vehicle and plenty of space for bikes.
Not suitable for disabled unfortunately because of steps and stairs

I live with my husband in the main house,next door and after initial greeting and showing around I am available for advice on activities and getting around.
We welcome non English speakers. We both speak French and my husband can offer Italian and Spanish too.
I could offer pickup from Staveley station if required.
A well stocked Spar shop is a short walk away and open late every day but for guests who arrive by public transport I can do a starter shop of groceries by arrangement at cost plus £10.

We have a well behaved and friendly Labrador dog called Mia.
We are safety conscious and have smoke alarms on both floors and fire extinguisher. There is an exit on both floors.
There is no boiler or open fire in the apartment so no need for Carbon monoxide alarm there but we have them in the main house.
We have outside drying area.
Washer and dryer available by arrangement for extra charge.
No pets or smokers.
For reasons of ventilation and safety in old houses we do not allow barbecues , frying or deep fat frying.
