Our self contained two bedroom cottage is on a small farm in the country in Mangaroa/Whitemans Valley. From the Upper Hutt City centre it is a mere 5 minutes drive over Wallaceville Hill . We are 5 minutes from Wallaceville railway station to take the train into Wellington. 40 minutes by car from Wellington city, the Inter-Island ferry and airport. We have amazing rural views, but we are also very near to local restaurants and dining. Lots of local attractions that we can share with you.
This is a fully self contained two bedroom cottage. It was built in 2006 so it is still very fresh and clean and modern. Tastefully decorated and very comfortable. You can be as private as you wish. The cottage entry is via a ramp so assists with wheelchair or walking frame access but the cottage inside is not 100% set up for wheelchair access to all areas.
Guests have full access to the whole cottage. There is a full kitchen and a washing machine

We are happy to assist with tips and ideas for what to do in our area. Upper Hutt has a number of places to dine out. We can advise you depending on your taste and budget. Some of the "Lord of the Rings" filming sites are not far away from us. We are happy to spend time and chat but if you want your privacy, that is assured. Bring your own food and cook here (aside from breakfasts which are provided)

This is a self contained cottage and guests are able to do their own catering. On arrival we will provide tea, coffee, sugar and milk along with cereal, yogurt, bread and spreads for your FIRST breakfast the next day . That way you can arrive in the afternoon or evening without the need to then go out and shop for items for your breakfast the next day. Guests staying longer than one night can prepare their own breakfasts and other meals using the stove and microwave provided or use local cafes and restaurants.
Two mountain bikes and helmets are available for use when staying. Lots of cycling is done in this valley. A picnic hamper complete with plates, cups cutlery, wine cooler and thermos flasks is available for use. Assemble your own food and enjoy a picnic somewhere!
We run a small agricultural contracting business in our area. It keeps us busy from October to March each year. We generally have a few cattle and hens on the property at any one time along with our two dogs. Wild ducks, pukekos, tui, wood pidgin and lorikeets are regular visitors around the houses. We enjoy hospitality and look forward to meeting people from all over NZ and the world.
