We stayed at Osbel Ramón for three nights and it is really lovely.
The home owner is Rita. Her friend Osbel Ramón negotiates AirBnB on Rita's behalf. He was very responsive to our advance questions.
When we arrived in Trinidad, we decided to walk to the house from the Plaza Carillo, where the bus stops. It's a very short walk once you orientate yourself on the Plaza, although the cobble streets might be challenging for some.
Guests stay upstairs at Rita's, and have two rooms and a bathroom. The space is spacious, airy, clean, and bright. The bathroom is newly renovated and very clean, and the shower, and by Cuban standards, is excellent. Three sets of double shutters open to look over the rooftops of Trinidad and onto the mountain, and the morning air feels clean and pure.
Rita offered to provide breakfast for an extra $5CUC each and we were very happy with that. We had lots of fresh fruit, fresh rolls, ham and cheese, and super coffee!!
I would also advise that you engage with Rita - apart from the fact that she is a lovely, warm person with good English and French, she used to work in the tourism industry, so is able to advise on ideas for trips, bus stops, and restaurant ideas for dinner. (She recommended San José restaurant around the corner - its super.) Time- and money-saving tips! Rita is warm, discreet and knowledgeable.
Trinidad is a party town, and being small, you will hear music into the wee hours. For some, this is not a problem; for light sleepers it might be. (But as Trinidad is small, I think it would be a problem for any casa in Trinidad.)
The stairs up to the room is narrow, but Rita's nephew took up our bags, which was great!. But for any future travellers with access problems, this would be a big problem. (As would the cobbled streets of Trinidad.)
There is no proper lock on the room door. It did not bother us, but future visitors might like to know this.
The air con. unit is quite noisy, so we didn't use it. We used the fan a little bit but mostly, we left the shutters open, which was sufficient for us.
The room was very comfortable. In fact, if there was a kettle in the room for afternoon tea, we would potentially have gone back in the afternoons to rest from the heat - it gets very hot in Trinidad!
All told, we would highly recommend Osbel Ramón's (Rita's) casa.
