A superb two-bedroomed cottage set in a small village just 2 miles and within comfortable walking distance from Skipton. Converted from what was the original barn to Ivy Cottage Farm, a traditional Yorkshire Dales farmhouse. No longer a working farm but surrounded by glorious countryside and lovely views of the hills and moors. With many local walks from the cottage, the village has a small shop/off license, friendly pub & coffee shop, post office, pharmacy and regular bus service into Skipton.
Poppy Cottage No. 2 has been newly renovated in 2016/17 to create a spacious cottage/small house which can sleep up to 5 people when using the pull-out sofabed in the lounge. It was originally converted from the barn attached to Ivy Cottage Farm in the late 1990's. Sadly no longer a working farm, Ivy Cottage Farm and Poppy Cottages still enjoy all the sights and sounds of the country with excellent views of the hills and moorland surrounding Carleton with Skipton in the distance. Poppy Cottage No. 2 has held onto many of its original barn features with exposed stonework, whitewashed beams and stone fireplace. It is a large spacious home which can sleep up to 5 with use of the pull-out sofabed in the lounge (extra charges apply) yet still provides a cosy cottage for the smaller groups. It has a newly fitted kitchen complete with dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric cooker and hob and many kitchen essentials along with tea coffee and sugar, welcome biscuits and fresh semi-skimmed milk in the fridge, for that all important cuppa on arrival! There is a ground floor shower room with toilet and wash basin and also a first floor bathroom with large bath, shower cubicle, w.c. and hand basin. The spacious lounge has two 3-seater sofas (one being a sofa/bed) a wood burning stove set in a stone fireplace and from the lounge there is access to the front garden through the stable door where you can relax and admire the view from the picnic benches and extra seating. With two first floor bedrooms, a double bedroom with twin wooden beds which can be made as a superking if preferred and a singel bedroom with single bed. Outside there is parking for 2 cars in the private courtyard area adjacent to Poppy Cottage No. 1. Non smoking and no pets allowed. Whilst there is no washing machine in the cottage you are able to use our washing machine at Ivy Cottage Farm.
Guests will have access to the whole of Poppy Cottage No. 2 and the garden directly infront of the cottage. Parking is available in the forecourt for 2 cars. They will also be able to wander up to our small holding/garden area to the rear where we keep our chickens and have extra seating to admire the stunning views. They will also be able to access the area for wood and fuel and the area where the rubbish and recycling bins are kept.
The driveway is a communal driveway to the cottages and it is access for ourselves to our garden and small holding and to the parking at the rear of Ivy Cottage Farm. Our neighbours to the two other properties that share the forecourt have access across the cattlegrid and forecourt to their properties. Please can guests park in the 4 parking bays on your right. For extra security, our parking area and driveway are monitored by a cctv system.

As we live only next door at Ivy Cottage Farm both myself and my husband Steve are on hand for to offer any help you may need during your stay. We are really happy to offer ideas and help you with your trip and plans while visiting Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales.
We live next door to the cottage at Ivy Cottage Farm, the original farmhouse, and will be happy to help with any problems that may arise. We like to be outside and tending to the garden area but will respect our guests privacy at all times. We love to make guests feel at home and take great pride in our cottages. Our aim is to make you feel completely at home in your cottage.
Just for security, we have a cctv system which monitors the parking and driveway area. No other major rules other than to be respectful of neighbours and to keep the noise levels down, especially at night. Thankyou
Hi, I am married to Steve and have two growing boys (still at home) 20 & 18. We all live in our converted farmhouse, Ivy Cottage Farm in Carleton-in-Craven on the outskirts of Skipton. We ran a small guest house - Poppy Cottage Guest House from 2009-2016 and then converted what was the old barn to create two holiday cottages - Poppy Cottage No. 1 & Poppy Cottage No. 2. Both myself and Steve are Yorkshire born and bred, I am from Skipton and Steve is from Ilkley, and we are very proud of the beautiful area we live in. With more free time on our hands, we are hoping to do some travelling ourselves but we are really home birds and just love it here! We are both keen walkers, Steve loves to refurbish stuff and is a bit of renovator and restorer and I just love gardening and my family.
