Our 1800 square-foot home is earth-bermed, making it naturally warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. We have solar electric with battery back-up, so we always have electricity even if the grid is down for an extended time (and a gas generator as a back-up to that!). The house features a great room with a dining area, stone fireplace, living room, kitchen and media area. Your bedroom features a king-sized memory foam mattress, chair, bureau, night stands, lamps, clock radio, luggage stands, a 42 inch TV with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, and a Blu Ray DVD and VCR. Open the curtains and you'll be treated to our wonderful view of Mt. Beryl and the hills beyond. A toddler bed and a crib are available in the room across the hall. The full bathroom has a newly-tiled shower and blue-tooth speaker. Robes and slippers are in your closet for use to/from the hot tub. Smoking is permitted in the enclosed porch and outside. Complimentary coffee and tea service is in your room for your convenience. The 1100 square foot terrace features a fire pit for nighttime enjoyment, chairs, picnic table, and 2 grills, one of which is vegetarian-only.
To see the most recent video of our house search "Byll & Cheryl earth-sheltered September 2016" on YouTube. This search will also pull up all of the other construction videos and previous updates. For an aerial look at the house, search for "13 Hills - A Unique Earth-Sheltered Destination". We also have a pool room in our upper garage, which is available to guests. We host Tuesday night pool sessions for our friends, and you are welcome to join in. Our house is surrounded by hills, so we have great sledding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter. Our main highway is a favorite of bicyclists, offering a 22 mile loop of primarily flat terrain paralleling the Cold River. Beryl Mountain offers good hiking and a variety of stones and crystals. Pitcher Mountain is just 20 minutes away and affords the best panoramic views of the entire region. Keene and Claremont are both about 30-35 minutes away, as is Springfield, VT.
13 Hills is registered with the State of New Hampshire as a Bed and Breakfast and is required to collect and transfer to the state the 9% Rooms and Meals tax. Be advised that this tax is INCLUDED in your booking rate and no further payment is required at check in. Our license number is 062015.

Both Cheryl and Byll are almost always at the property, though Cheryl does travel for her work. While we are always interested in getting to know our guests and showing off our home, we respect guests' desires for solitude and privacy. We're certainly happy to provide information and advice on the local scene if requested.
Другие важные подробности
The house is one level and wheelchair accessible. We have a 4 year old mixed breed rescue dog named Hannah who is very friendly. We provide a full breakfast to your liking, from pancakes or french toast with maple syrup from our trees to omelettes or fried eggs, homefries and sausage to cereal, yogurt and fruit, so do let us know your preferences and/or dietary restrictions so we can accommodate you. As Byll is a long-time ovo-lacto vegetarian, providing a non-meat breakfast is not a problem and we also have experience providing vegan and gluten-free breakfasts.
We're Byll and Cheryl. Byll is a semi-retired videographer, apprentice stone mason and hospice volunteer. Cheryl is in private practice as an inclusive education consultant, an author and speaker, and former faculty member of the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire. With our dog, Hannah, we enjoy the serenity and beauty of southwestern NH, and especially our unique earth-sheltered home.
We have traveled a good deal, and have stayed in a wide variety of accommodations, so we've tried to make our offering something that we'd like to stay at as well. Part of that is putting the Breakfast back in B&B. We offer a wide range of choices to cater to most any appetite, whether it's something light like yogurt and fruit to more substantial offerings like omelets, home fries, sausage and toast. We roast our own coffee weekly and only use a French press to brew. Guests also love the home-made chocolate/peanut/coconut clusters we have on hand for late night desserts!
We are dedicated hot tub enthusiasts. We're on our third tub now, having first bought back in 1998. We rarely miss an evening in the tub, regardless of the weather, and it's not unusual to go in twice a day. We find it an excellent way to unwind and connect, and feel that it is an integral part of our guests' stays.
We also are pool players. We have a table in the upper garage open to use by guests and we host pool nights on Tuesdays, which gives guests an opportunity to meet some of the locals. The game we play is intended to be inclusive of all players regardless of skill, and it's not unheard of that a first time player wins.
