We will no longer be renting as of November 1, 2017. Thank you to everyone we met during our one year hiatus! For anyone renting the remaining days, please note: the wood stove feature is currently not available. The Bridge House is right next to Wakefield's Covered Bridge and on the Trans Canada Trail. Parks, art and culture, great views, restaurants and dining are all walking distance from this historical site.
This amazing location is right in the heart of Wakefield. It's dynamic and can go from total peace and stillness to full-on life with art events at the nearby Fairbairn Museum. All seasons offer something totally unique to experience here, and, you are walking distance to everything you would need. A question we get a lot is: is there swimming. The house is right on the river, but the rapids are nearby and the current can be strong and unpredictable. Great for kayakers, canoe, etc. If you want to get on the river, Expedission Radisson is where to go (paddle boards and more for rent). For outdoor sports, there are a lot of options, go to the website 'destination wakefield' - it has a lot of recommendations. In winter it's the nearby ski hills and Gatineau Park for x country skiing and snowshoeing (Expedission Radisson has the gear you can rent). Wakefield has lots of walking paths for both summer and winter. Go to Fairbairn House, check out the area's history and more info on trails. Or just walk the main street, enjoy chocolate shops, well-known bars for music (like widely known Black Sheep, or Kaffe 1870 amongst many to choose from). Lots of places to choose from for going out to eat, from gourmet to take outs. Tulipe Noire is great for women's clothes. Cafe Molo's got great coffee and lunch ... oh my, I could go on and on. Lots to discover in Wakefield. Did I mention the bungee jumping, cave tours and horseback riding?
If you have kids or babies and want to book, we are open to that, we just want to make sure it's all super clear about river safety so send us a note and we can discuss! We say 'no babies' in our conditions ... but really, we just want to make sure it's the right place for you, so don't hesitate to ask!
The house is yours to enjoy. We show up once in a while to get to our boat during the summer, but we'll give you warning if that is what we are planning.

Rob and I are a few minutes up the line, in our off-grid house, either working on the garden or in our artist studios at PAF. If you need anything, give us a call and we'll be there in a few minutes. Or come and visit us up the line!

Two parking spots available, if you need more talk to us. - Definitely don't park on the road or else you'll get a ticket (it's the TransCanada Trail). When you drive down the road, go pass the 'locals only' barricade and you have to drive slowly/carefully, again because it's the TransCanada trail.
I'm an artist working for STO Union and also out of PAF, Farrellton's Artist Space. My husband Rob will also be your host if I'm out of the country. The Bridge House has been my artistic inspiration ... the energy here is amazing: creative and dynamic. I also own an off-grid house on 4 acres, and that's where I do all of my gardening. If you show up at the right time of year, I might drop off a basket of organic vegetables, harvested on the day. The Bridge House is truly a unique place. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
