Marcelo is a great host. I happened to be the first guest in the upstairs suites, which are set up like an old fashioned luxury hotel. Although I came solo, I could see that guests who are taking a quiet romantic break are welcome--greeted with towels like swan hearts and champagne! Sierra de los Padres is best arrived at by car, as taxi from the train station is 400 pesos and a bus, while only about 10 pesos, takes an hour or more, then one must walk a distance up the street. This place is perfect for a quiet retreat with some time by the pool in the sun, etc. I did take the bus into Mar del Plata for the day and got a lot of good pictures. This is a resort popular with Porteños down from Buenos Aires, as well as locals with children. They have Disney and other popular character entertainment, dancing and music on the beach and tons of umbrellas covering coveted spots on the sand. Not necessarily a hot spot for foreign tourists, and you cannot get anything but pizza and sandwiches or cakes/cookies and ice cream from about 2 pm to 8 pm when restaurants open for dinner. All in all, I had a very nice restful weekend after a long bus ride delayed by 3 hours due to a flat tire.
