Stay on board a lovely sailing yacht moored in Portree's pretty harbour.
Brise is a 400-metre rowboat ride from the Portree's many restaurants, shops and bars. A dinghy is provided for you to get to and from the boat.
Brise is a 40-foot sailing yacht moored in Portree's pretty harbour. We spent winter in the Caribbean on board, and recently brought her home to Skye.
Your cabin is in the stern of the boat. It has its own en-suite bathroom.
There is a comfortable saloon where you can relax, read books and eat (assuming you're not dining al-fresco!).
The kitchen is well-equipped with a good selection of pots, pans and cooking utensils. There is a gas stove with two rings, a grill and an oven. And the fridge even has an ice compartment!
Breakfast items are provided: cereal, bread, jam, tea, coffee, etc.
We will meet you at the harbour on your arrival day and take you to the boat to show you all you need to know about life on board: turning the gas on and off (for cooking); operation of marine loos (reassuringly straightforward); turning the engine on -- you'll need to do this in order to charge the batteries and heat water for showers; etc.
Things you ought to know about boat life before you book...
There is no wifi!
Boats run on a 12 volt electricity system, which means you can charge a telephone, the same way you would in a car, but leave your hairdryer behind! (The same goes for any other electronics that require anything more than a 12 volt current.)
There's no heating. Evenings can be chilly at sea, so you may have to wrap up warm when on board. (Though of course we do provide a warm duvet, plenty of blankets, and hot water bottles, just in case!)
Lifejackets will be provided and absolutely MUST be worn when going to and from the boat.

I'm a professional sailor, currently living in Portree with my partner Iona -- a writer and chef.
We're both from Scotland and we eat Haggis for breakfast, but only if we can catch them... However we do welcome vegetarians to the yacht!
We're friendly 30 somethings and we can offer advice on things to do around the island.
We spent the winter living on the boat in the Caribbean, and hosting people there. Now we live on dry land, but we'd like to rent out our lovely boat to visitors.
