Nice place. At first we worried the place was going to smell bad or something since the surrounding area seemed dirty chinese country-ish (& they typically smell really bad), however, the smell was neutral. The scenery of mountains is bomb. They advertise with 2 pools, and you technically CAN swim in both, however one of them is more meant as show/a part of the building. They don't clean it regularly as they do with the smaller pool either; so it's only really the small pool you can swim in. It's not dirty however, the water is clear; however at the bottom of the pool you can se some dirt gathering. Nothing to scare off though. The water here is without chlorine too and come from the mountains directly to the pool. The service here is nice, they have a lot of workers at standby, and they really rally to make sure you're comfortable (coming with electric fans, setting up parasols, continuously asking if we wouldnt rather sit in the shade since it's cooler etc.). The food is okay, very different from the usual Beijing or Shanghai cuisine. The location is very remote however; it provides a lot of peace and quiet (which was very needed and appreciated in our case after a ton of travelling and hiking) but it's far from anything really; the prices at the hotel for everything is a bit pricier, however they have drivers, and a one-way drive to any place (we only went to central) is 15 RMB.
Beware also; average taxi drivers might charge you off-count for getting here; we got charged 20 RMB to begin with and he added another 5 RMB for, legit, a 50meter drive extra down the road. We called the company and got in a good complaint, however could happen again. Always make the taxi-driver start the counter!
Another thing: We actually got another room than what we ordered here, as somebody else booked the same room 2 minutes before us; they contacted us and we mutually arranged for a 2-bed room suite-ish room. It was fine and just unlucky that it happened that way. We however also requested to stay until approximately 2-3 PM the next day as out train left ZhangJiaJie 16.10, and we had nowhere else to go with all of out luggage really and they agreed to it upon booking and then again asking when we arrived for confirmation. The next day however while we were in-town to buy some stuff, we got a rush call that we had to pack up & leave before 12 PM because other guests had come to book the room and they had forgotten the request from us (?), and so we had to rush our shopping and get back in a hurry to pack all our luggage :/ The stay was nice without doubt and the service was super, however this kinda bummed us out and it put some stress on us (which was what we were avoiding).
