An English Mountain country house, with its extraordinary view of English Mountain, is within 5 miles of the Great Smoky Mountains. You'll love our place because of its secluded location in old growth forest, yet it's only 7 minutes from the Newport Walmart and I-40. Go to bed to the sounds of whiporwills, wake up to the gobbling of wild turkeys, then take advantage of its fast access to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Maggie Valley, Cherokee and Asheville.
Smokers, please smoke outside on the porch and pick up butts.
Me and my family members are hosting guests at our English Mountain country house on behalf of its owner, papa Louis, a 91-year old WW II veteran, who is currently in assisted living. As a result, his house is now vacant and has been restored and modernized by his children. Louis and his wife Aline built this two-story bungalow in a secluded valley in Cocke County, in the heart of an old growth forest, and lived in it for 35 years. Here, you can retire at night to the sound of whipporwills and wake up in the morning to the gobbling of wild turkeys - yet due to the bungalow's excellent location in the quiet Cosby side of the Smokies, it has easy access to the National Park, yet is less than eight minutes to I-40 Newport Exit 435 and the Newport Walmart. We are happy to lovingly restore our small but comfortable family home to receive guests from all over the world. Louis instilled in his seven children, of whom I am the oldest, his love of travel and openness to experiencing other cultures. The idea of sharing our home, with its extraordinary view of the English Mountain Saddle thrills us. I have a background in education and have successfully worked as an ESL instructor in the United States and a number of foreign countries, and have personally traveled in 65. Among the amenities we offer is a fully-equipped modern kitchen - we encourage guests to use it - or visit one of Newport's selection of good restaurants. The house also has a decent reference library and a cookbook collection that guests can take advantage of. Our goal is to provide you with every convenience we can to ensure that they have a memorable experience here on magic English Mountain. My family and I are happy to share our knowledge of this area and Tennessee, and its unique place in world history. My philosophy of life is very simple: when faced with a challenge, Step 1 for me is to try hard to please and to achieve success. If this isn't enough, Step 2 is to try harder. If this still doesn't work (it usually doesn't - but I never give up without more effort), Step 3 is 'do something else.' We hope you will give our English Mountain country bungalow a try. We think you will like it.
