Do you long to escape from the constant noise and pressures of daily life and recharge your soul and/or relationships in a serene, beautiful and magical landscape? This exquisitely restored old stone house, constructed around the beginnings of the past century, affords you such opportunity. It is located on the slopes of Mount Parnon and in the heart of its ‘Ecological Park’, rich in flora and fauna, with forests of pine and spruce trees, but also chestnut and walnut trees.
The main house comprises two separate flats. The one on the 1st floor has an open kitchen-living-dining combination and a bedroom. There is also a studio apartment with separate entrance in the lower level. The house can be rented as a whole (in which case the studio can be considered as the second bedroom), but the two flats can also be rented separately. The upper house has a charming wooden terrace and is surrounded by a big stone terrace with a marble table overlooking the small flower garden and affording a seamless integration of indoor-outdoor living during the summer.
Visitors can have access to the terraces of the upper level as well as the small terrace and the small garden of the lower level of the house.

I will normally be absent but there will be written instructions on the functioning of the house and I could certainly assist visitors by phone or internet. A local person will welcome the visitors.

Visitors should do their shopping or eat in restaurants in nearby places: the village of Karyes, the closest village (20 minutes drive) with shops, or the city of Sparta (around 40 minutes drive).

I am a professor of economics, living in Athens. I have an adult daughter who is a biochemist and works in Paris. I bought this house 11 years ago to explore the region that my grandfather and ancestors came from. When I bought it, it was a wreck with barely the skeleton standing. I spent two years restoring it, working with architects and local craftsmen to preserve and bring back to life its original features. It has become my dream home and a cherished retreat I escape to as often as I can. I love the magic of waking up in the mountains and the quiet joy of reading or painting on the terrace. I also enjoy hiking, taking long walks, going on excursions to nearby villages or beaches.
