History of the place:
"Ponchettes" comes from the word "pouchetta" which means "little point of land" in old Nice's languages. The "Ponchettes" were originally where fishermen brought their boats on the shore. First port of Nice, although there was no basement dock. Throughout the strike, they built their huts, in order to store their equipment, and to live there. From the eighteenth century, the houses were built in solid, with terrace & flat roof.
