Right by beautiful mc gorrick park, and close to many shops and restaurants. The apartment is a railroad style, typical greenpoint, yet very bright, and located on a quiet street so you won't hear much traffic noise. Good for couple or single traveller, although the sofa bed can accommodate comfortably two more people. the middle room is used as an office space. the kitchen is very large and functional with counter space and appliances.
The neighborhood has a lot of nice hangouts and restaurants aside from the traditional polish food you will see everywhere, below are a couple of my favorite and why I love them:
Little Dokebi: Other side of mc Golrick park, korean cuisine, nice quiet terasse outside (cash only)
Selamat Pagi: On driggs st. indonesian cuisine, healthy, portions are small but full of flavour, cute facade and attention to details.
the Standard : on Nassau ave, Deli with a large variety of bagels and sandwiches, healthy/organic vibe, morning coffee.
Greenpoint fish and lobster: Nassau & Eckford, MUST go place if you're into seafood, open kitchen, best oysters, lobster and more (arrive early on the week ends to avoid wait)
Le fond, on Norman : American dining with strong french influence, really talented young chef Jake regularly changes the menu with attention to details, small outside terrasse, surprisingly never packed probably because located on a quieter street. My favorite around. Also open for Sunday Brunch.
Frankels : just opened on manhattan ave and Nassau, jewish Deli, delicious pastrami and matzo..(crowded on weekends)
Nights & week end: Bar, next to frankels, terrasse, kitchen open late.
Lake street : on Manhattan ave, good neighborhood bar, open late, small outdoor backyard.
Good pizzas at fornino's on manhattan ave, exceptional pizzas at paulies gees...a little further on Greenpoint ave.
Glasserie, on the north side of greenpoint, fancy/hip vibe, Mediterranean cuisine, delicious. good for dinner, I heard the brunch is good too, I havent tried.
Brooklyn Label: on franklin st, good friends of mine, . good selection of wine, good for brunch and dinner. Tables outdoor.
Calexico: Mexican fast food, I love the tacos.
There is also a farmers market in the parc every sunday until 4pm.
The G train is the closest subway stop, its about 7 minute walk from the house, Bus stops is one minute walk, and there is a citybike station in the corner (I use it everyday weather permitting)
