The Caboclo Country House site is 3km from the city center. It is quite rustic and full of green. In addition to the colonial-style house, the site has a delightful natural pool with waterfall. The house is special and provides for its guests an authentic experience of Brazilian countryside life, unlike any other in the region.
It is the best way to be in the forest, and at the same time, close to one of the most visited historical cities in Brazil.
Families, children and pets are welcome :)
This is a very special country house, one of the main reasons I became an architect. It was made out of wood and designed by an Argentinian craftsman-architect who is responsible for some of the most remarkable homes in the Paraty area. It has a certain Portuguese colonial meets Tudor feel, but done in a very personal signature style. Hard to describe, you’ve got to see it for yourself.
Best of all is that the house, that by itself is already fantastic, is standing amidst 34O,OOO m2 of land of pure forest, green, flowers, fruits, birds and other animals. Without direct neighbours, you really get immersed in nature - allowing for a renovating experience.
Within the site flows a stream that was dammed, forming a natural swimming pool and a waterfall that is famed for energising all who bathe in its waters. A centuries-old tree, a Jequitibá [brazilian mahogany] , watches over the grounds from above.
The décor pays homage to the house and mixes rustic Brazilian and English countryside objects and style. All special and authentic, done beautifully by my grandmother, the columnist Nina Horta, known for her writings that mix food and good stories.
You can be sure that there is nothing like the experience of spending a some time in Caboclo Country House. I was lucky to grow up visiting this magical place and now I am delighted to share a little bit of all of this with you.
It will be a pleasure having you over!

The Caboclo Country House site is 3 km from the city center. To get there you'll need a car. In small stretches the road is unpaved, a simple car can do the job. If you can not go with your own or rented car (you can rent one once you get to Paraty), you can talk to a taxi driver in the city for him to do the transfer.
The place is very rustic, without unnecessary luxuries, we have no TV or air conditioning, but we offer a god fan for hot nights, a delicious hammock for you to read a book and a good wifi if you need to connect with the world outside.
There are lots of animals, from birds to mosquitos – so don’t forget to bring some insect repellent! We also have two dogs and a cat. They are friendly and get along well with everyone, especially children. There shouldn’t be a need as the place is quite big, but If really necessary, we can lock them away for short periods.
When you arrive everything will be ready for you, if you need cleaning during your stay ask us!
My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
- Pet policy: big pet only outside the house, small pets can stay inside :)
- Smoking policy: no smoking inside the house, please. It's ok to smoke outside.
I'm an architect living in São Paulo, Brazil. I love traveling and always have a next trip planned the minute I return from the last. I like movies, music, books and love making friends. I have passion for cooking and discovering new cultures through their food. I think the place where we live says a lot about us, so I put a lot of love and affection in my house. It's with the same love that I take care of any home.
