The Home and Area
This charming, traditional 1910 redwood-siding home is situated in an urban setting in a neighborhood comprised of a combination of live-work warehouses, light industrial and traditional residential buildings. We are nearby to everything by foot, bike, vehicle or public transport. 15-minute drive to downtown S.F., 10-minute walk to BART, 1 mile to Bay Bridge, 2 miles to UC Berkeley campus and downtown Berkeley, 1 mile to shopping at Emeryville centers.
Full kitchen, food storage in pantry, laundry & soap, bath with shower/tub. Front and backyard / porch areas. Living and dining room are preferred for quiet activities only. TV use is not included, but high speed internet and a Netflix guest account are available.
Общение с гостями
I like to learn about people and cultures. I do better with some quiet time after I get home from work, but am always happy to help with directions and how to find transit info, suggest local food spots and to recommend entertainment and activities.

Quiet and Noise
Quiet hours are between 10pm and 9am. Please be aware that the guest and host bedrooms share a wall, so activities upstairs should be limited to a reasonable volume when both people are upstairs. Phone calls or video chat should be done outside of these hours or in another location. Please ask if you have any questions regarding your needs to work at home or call abroad during quiet hours.
Fresh bed linens and towels, toilet paper, dishes, cups and cooking utensils are provided, as are dry spices for cooking. Please bring or purchase your own personal items/consumables, cooking oil and soap/shampoo. You'll have a cabinet and pantry shelf to stock your food.
Very little is needed to live here! The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. You'll have your own medicine chest in the bathroom. Personal items should be stored in your room.
The house is professionally cleaned once a month, including your room. There are also ample linens for changing the bed and towels more frequently if you wish. We clean up after ourselves around the house for standard use, such as wiping surfaces and cleaning kitchen work space and plates after kitchen use (dishwasher available). I will tidy up shared spaces between housekeeper visits.
Be aware of the seasons and temperatures -- though we have mild temperatures, as with many older California homes the house isn't well insulated and doesn't have central air or heating. We wear warmer clothes around the house when needed (Nov - March), with the downstairs fireplace lit for heat in common areas in the evening. There is no heat source in bedrooms.
Stuff that shouldn't need to be said, but you'd be surprised... :)
Spaces like closets and items that aren't designated for guest use should not be entered or used without checking first (most people know this, but not everyone!) There is no covered or secure storage for a bike, but I try to accommodate needs if notified in advance of your arrival. Please check with me before bringing guests into the house.
I'm a mid-career professional who works at UC Berkeley. I'm quiet and friendly as a host and housemate, and enjoy cooking, gardening and entertaining -- you might get some good meals and meet fun folks along with your stay.
I ride a motorcycle and enjoy touring the country -- and sometimes other countries -- with friends. Lana the house cat is very friendly, and loves men in particular, so be ready for some white fur.
