Where Ocean Parkway falls into the ocean, you'll find a charming and beautifully renovated little fisherman's cottage and ocean-front compound. With views for days and easy access to the beach, Point Reyes, and the town of Bolinas, you'll find it to be a welcome retreat from the city.
Just renovated! (Completed May 2017)
The main house is a cozy 500 sq ft with a spacious kitchen/living room that opens to a bedroom with a queen sized bed. Large doors make the house spill onto the huge deck (the deck is bigger than the house!) for true indoor/outdoor California livin'. There is a beautiful bathroom with rain shower and heated stone floor. Despite how nice the bathroom is, I almost never shower indoors - instead I opt for the oversized outdoor shower. There's nothing like a steaming hot shower while you stare at the ocean or the stars.
Just a few steps away is a small cottage with an additional bedroom, also with a queen sized bed. Out in the yard we also have a spacious teepee with a queen sized bed.
The highlight of the house is definitely the view and spacious yard. From the raised deck at the end of the yard you can get lost starting at Mt. Tam spilling into the ocean, and at night you can see the lights of SF reflecting off of the pacific. There's also a propane heater to keep you warm while al fresco dining, and a fire pit (you must notify the fire dept before having a fire).
There is a hot tub on the property which I love with a glass of wine at night or with coffee in the AM (or both!). We also have a full size trampoline (all renters will be required to sign a liability release for the trampoline).
There's no direct beach access from the house - you'll need to walk west about .5 miles to get to agate beach, or head a little over a mile into town to reach the main beach.
There is a queen size air mattress that can be setup in the cottage, teepee, or living room, making the house comfortable for 8 people.
You'll have the entire property to yourselves. Make yourself at home!
No parties! Guests will forfeit a $500 deposit if there are noise complaints from neighbors (I've never had them complain, but don't want to start!)
There is a fire pit on the property. However, you are required to call the fire dept 9am-5pm M-F BEFORE lighting a fire and asking if the fire conditions are OK to light the fire. Failing to do this will also result in the loss of your $500 deposit. The phone number of the fire dept is: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Please tell them you are guests of Shelby Clark at 120 Juniper, and let them know I have a valid fire permit.
Dogs are welcome! The yard is fully fenced, so they will have a safe place to play. Please note: there is poison oak all over Bolinas. You'll be fine if you stay on the streets, but if you go hiking on narrow trails, the dogs will easily get covered in it. If you take them hiking, I'd kindly ask that you give them a good rinse off in the outdoor shower before bringing them in the house. I have a special soap called Technu under the bathroom sink that is the best way to get the poison oak out - please use that when you wash them. And of course feel free to use it if you get any poison oak yourself!
