After using AirBnB in Paris and Belize, I was indifferent on using it again. With Cuba it seemed I didn't have much of a choice. I reluctantly booked this place and hoped for the best.
Claudia and Maikel's place exceeded my expectations. They were great from the very beginning. They communicated information to me quickly and connected me with the landlord, Yanel, ahead of time. I can't say enough good things about Yanel. He was so nice and accommodating. He was the perfect host. He gave good info on things to do in Havana, places to eat and how to navigate the taxis. He always says "ask me anything"...He means it. He always gets back to you. I also liked that their is a housekeeper that comes every couple of days to clean and change the linens and towels. That's not always the case with AirBnBs which is one of the reasons I'm indifferent to them.
This place was really clean and accessible to transportation and many sites and Old Havana. Yanel arranged for the neighbor to make us breakfast (good a fee)...she was nice and her food was good. The hostal across the street also has good breakfast and dinner. And they have a good rapport with Yanel and we could go over to them to use their taxi and ask questions too. We found a restaurant on 19 and 14, El Cimarron, not too far from the place that also has good food. The owner was fantastic.
My family loved Cuba. We miss it and are planning to visit again in 2017. As soon a I figure out our dayes, I would book this place again without hesitation.
