Thomas, we are so sorry to hear you had a bad experience!!! It was so unusual for us not to get the chance to meet you - we were home but had a full schedule that weekend getting home around 10pm on Friday and leaving the house by 7:30am Saturday and Sunday mornings for a community volunteer commitment. We try to be very flexible on check in times to ensure it is as convenient as possible for the guest, so if we have to be at work during the guest's preferred check in time we send remote check-in instructions to ensure the guest doesn't have to wait around for us. We can absolutely understand how for your first Airbnb experience this did not feel as welcoming as expected and we're so sorry about that! It is always a delicate balance wanting to be there and get to greet you in person but also wanting to be as accommodating as possible of everyone's schedules. Since we were home but out of the house for much of the day Saturday and didn't get to see you, it created the perfect storm of events where it felt as though you were alone in the house and we hadn't communicated anything differently since we were there but just busier than usual! We're so sorry this happened! It is so important to us to make guests feel welcomed and sometimes people are more private and prefer less host interaction and it can be hard to tell what the right balance is. We are so sorry again for the negative experience and will absolutely implement your feedback for future guests to ensure we communicate better about our schedules!
