We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful location for our visit to the Mammoth Cave area. About a 45 minute drive to the cave and attractions, this vintage motel lodge and restaurant was an oasis of natural beauty and quiet, steps from Nolin Lake. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and found service quick and friendly and food to be very tasty. Our room was very clean and well appointed with a modern flat screen tv, wi-fi, tiled shower with full sized bathtub, toiletries, hair dryer, mini-fridge and ice upon request. Beds were firm and comfy and decor was tasteful. There were plenty of outlets to charge our electronic devices, too, which was a huge plus. Our room opened onto a large communal outdoor deck with a lovely view of the water, where smoking is permitted if you’re into that. Despite our room’s proximity to potential smokers on the deck, there was no smell or bother to us whatsoever. We liked to drink coffee out there every morning while reading or checking email.
John and Queedie are lovely and gracious hosts, who know what they're doing, enjoy what they do and genuinely care about their guests. We took John’s excellent recommendation for a cave tour and it was our favorite of our visit. I would recommend this lodge to anyone who is looking for a calm comfortable stay in a beautiful part of Kentucky at a great value.
