A co-worker of mine recommended AirBnB to me for our first big family trip out of state to Albuquerque, New Mexico. There were going to be 5 of us, so I wanted to make sure we had a convenient and comfortable place to stay.
Knowing it was going to be super hot in late July, we hoped to find a nice place with a pool to relax in. Surprisingly, there were only two homes with pools available, and Lisa's was one of them. Judging from the listing of amenities, location and photos, it seemed like a sweet spot, so we booked it before it slipped away.
Right from the start, Lisa was a pleasant and accommodating host. Booking was hassle-free, we kept in constant communication, and on the day we arrived, she gave us a brief but thorough tour of the place, making sure to address any questions or concerns we had.
But truthfully, the pad was actually nicer and roomier than we'd imagined, and my wife and I were all smiles as we went from room to room. This place really was going to be the icing on the cake for our vacation. It was cozy, outfitted with everything we needed (i.e., kitchen, refrigerator, stove, bathroom with shower, washer/dryer, AC, pool), plus we had our own private entrance along the side of the house, with a dead-bolted front door and metal screen door for added security.
Originally we'd thought the best AirBnB listings would've been within walking distance to the "happening," touristy spots like Old Town or Nob Hill, but Lisa's pad was comfortably nestled in a tranquil, sleepy suburb just far enough away from all the hub-bub, with a Smith's grocery store and Walmart just a minute away for groceries and any other provisions we'd need for our stay. It really felt like the perfect home away from home.
In all, Lisa was a sweetheart of a host, joined by her two fun sons who got along just fine with my kid in the pool; two friendly dogs whom were welcoming and well-mannered, and—of all things—two chickens (hens) whose subtle bocks and cacks added a whole unexpected, home-on-the-range texture to our stay...with daily fresh eggs, even!
As our first AirBnB experience, Lisa's place really left a great impression, and we're definitely looking forward to staying with her again on future visits to New Mexico. Thanks a million!
