Welcome! This cozy roost has more class than camping but it's more rustic than the Ritz. It is a back woods hideaway apart from the main house. It is a unique, custom-built space with a private porch, queen size bed, kitchen, mountain view and bath.
Our newly built apartment has all of the comforts of home, including a queen size-bed, a kitchen, bathroom, and a private porch. There is a TV with DVDs to watch, but no cable or local stations are available. Our sleepy neighborhood is nestled in Wears Valley. You will be refreshed by our misty mornings and our big starry skies. After a fun day of adventure or a quiet day of rest, you can sit around the outdoor fire pit and listen to the crickets chirp. Smores are encouraged!
Hootin' Holler is in a separate building that is connected to our main house by a bridge. You have plenty of privacy. There are a few steps to negotiate (unlike our unit Hummingbird Holler).

We will give you all the privacy you would like, but of course we are available to answer questions, guide your adventures, give driving directions or whatever else you need. We will let you in on some local secrets, including an entrance to Smoky Mountain National Park, shortcuts and fun attractions. We have a fire pit we invite you to use. It is also shared with travelers visiting our other unit (Hummingbird Holler).

The nearest airport is the Tyson McGhee Airport in Knoxville and is about a 40 minute drive. We are located near bustling Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge if you are looking for some city action. We are five minutes from the little known North entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park via Line Springs Road that brings you to the Metcalf Bottoms picnic area. A "T" at the end of the picnic area will take you to either Gatlinburg, "The Sinks Waterfalls, Cades Cove, or Townsend, TN. Although we don't have cable tv or internet, there is a General Store up the street with free Wi-Fi if you need to check business, ESPN, email or social media. Mountain cell service is spotty, but if you have Verizon or StraightTalk your phones and other devices may work in the unit. Located just off Hwy 321, there are no steep grades or winding mountains roads to negotiate.
We are fun-friendly folks. We ask that you respect our home and treat it just as you would your own. Please, no pets or smoking or extra people.
While we can accommodate children in our Humminbird Holler unit, we cannot accommodate children in the Hootin Holler unit.
We are right by the forest, food cannot be left outside because it attracts wildlife. Please don't feed the bears.

After living 29 years in beautiful south Florida, my husband (Bob) and I have established a new residence in the hills of Tennessee.
Life has a much slower pace. We enjoy sitting on the front porch looking at the beautiful Smoky Mountain range and watching the clouds roll by.
We have settled in the Wears Valley area where our home is peaceful yet in minutes we can engage in the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge.
Bob is an engineer and musician who loves to build (he built our home ). I enjoy volunteering, socializing and star gazing.
