Great place! Much more than expected from the host. We had everything needed for an overnight camp trip. The wolves next door made the night incredible. Will stay again when back in the area.

We arrived very late at night but found the tent next to the Candy Kitchen trading post on Indian Service Route 120, and we could let ourselves in and then collapse into bed. The site is very close to the Wildspirit sanctuary and we enjoyed listening to the wolfs baying occasionally in the night. We found a shy spotted salamander and in the early morning saw a coyote pair walk past. We went on a guided walk with a wolf from the sanctuary, which was a fascinating experience. After our walk, we enjoyed a delicious cooked breakfast that Galen kindly prepared for us.

Our experience was a little bit of an unusual mix of really good and not so great. We were driving up from White Sands NM, three weeks into our xc road trip and told our host that we were hoping to be there around 8 PM. He simply replied that that time sounded good and that someone would be there at the store to greet us. After getting a little lost near the big array and after having to stop and pick up dinner early (since the only restaurants are 60 miles north of the location and we were traveling up from the south) we sent him a message that we were running late and would probably get around 10 PM. On one hand we were pretty poor guests to arrive to late and let him know we were going to arrive late last minute, but I was just hoping to get more information on how to get to the tent without him. Instead we got no reply. After traveling through some very remote and quiet territory arrived we turned onto a county dirt road which eventually lead to a sign saying PRIVATE PROPERTY and since it was getting late decided to trespass. We finally got back onto public roads and made it to the store/tent. We saw lights on inside so I went in and accidentally scared the shit out of a guy named Steve who had no idea who we were, that we were coming or that the tent was for airbnb. He was still extremely nice and showed us to the tent and where the porta potty was. When we asked about the wifi, he told us that if Galen did not give us the password he could not help us. Anyways once we finally got settled in the location was awesome. It's super remote and the tent is really nice. My friend started a stove fire and I got to do some night photography of the tent which was a lot of fun. You can here the wolves at night and its a really peaceful location with a great view of the stars. This place is not for everyone but if you are better about communication then we were and like a little bit of adventure then I highly recommend it!

What a unique and wonderful place! It's absolutely awesome. Beautiful night sky, a fire pit (though be careful, there may be a burn ban in effect), and a wonderful stove to warm up the place. The tent is situated next to a store with a laundromat and nice shower, which is extremely handy, and a way to meet locals. Galen and Steve are warm and welcoming. We heard the sounds of the wolves from the sanctuary across the road at night, which was soothing and like nothing we'd ever experienced. We highly recommend this for anyone who likes camping but wants more creature comforts. They recommend you bring your own bedding, and I'd say definitely follow your personal instincts on that. I'm pregnant with a 6'3 husband and we wish we'd brought an air mattress. They have a futon and cots, like they say, which might be ok for some folks but bring your own bedding if you need more support! All in all this was such an awesome leg on our road trip, we'd do it again in a heartbeat!

The tent was great, and there is plenty of firewood available for the wood stove and the fire pit. The trading post next door is also operated by the host, and he was really gracious letting us duck inside for stuff we forgot after closing. The extra bedding Galen provided helped us not freeze our toes off at night when it snowed unexpectedly, and all in all we couldn't ask for a better host!
