Travel heads my list of favorite things to do. I especially like the people and culture of Central America. So, that's where the vacation home is located. Guatemala is a place of many colors, from the vibrant, hand-woven fabrics to the peace and serenity of life along the shores of Lake Atitlan. It's a place for adventure, if that's your cup of tea, or a place to unwind and enjoy the simplicity of relaxing on a verdant terrace over-looking the ancient lake, surrounded by mountains and awesome volcanoes. Either way, or perhaps a bit of both, describes a fantastic vacation scenario.
In addition to the above, I enjoy reading and am finishing up the writing/editing of my first book. When this is complete, I intend to put together a collection of photos with some of the pictures taken, while vacationing at the beautiful Lake Atitlan.
Occasionally, I like to cook and enjoy a great meal alongside my favorite compadre, and then go for a short walk along the winding streets in my neighborhood.
A good movie is always fun. Some of my favorites are: Young Frankenstein; Airplane; The Lake House; Spotlight; anything Alfred Hitchcock; An Affair to Remember; Casablanca; Same Time, Next Year. And, being a bona fide Southern girl, I must include Gone With the Wind.
My style of traveling has evolved over the years. t's always nice to go first class when available and affordable. Getting a decent meal served en route to your vacation spot is a flight experience that's hard to beat. As a seasoned traveled, I am one to enjoy the "getting there" almost as much as the being there. Well, maybe I should re-think this one. . .
Unfortunately, my "partner in crime" here in the U.S. is my handsome and ever-so-smart Maine Coon cat, named Pretty Boy. Unfortunate in the sense that he is not along on my travels to enjoy a different culture, interesting history, as well as wonderful people.
Five things I cant' live without: The way my heart sings at the thought of my grandchildren; the quiet beauty of a sunny Southern morning; the soft meows of my feline friends; the always-welcome phone calls from my two amazing daughters; and last, but not least, the comfort of that caring heart who is my rock, always strong, always loyal, and always loved.
My motto: Find your gift (we all have one) and push it to the limit, one more time.
