The cottage at is a unique barn conversion with lovingly crafted details. It is cosy, comfortable and peaceful -you can hear the sound of the mill leat flowing behind the building. There is plenty of stunning magical landscape at Felindyrch to explore.
This converted cow barn is part of a smallholding which used to be a thriving flour mill. It is a gorgeous place for a holiday. Felindyrch is 10 miles from Narberth and 12 miles from Cardigan tucked away in its own little world close to the Preselli mountains.
You will find everything you need here to kick back and relax and explore magical Pembrokeshire. We are in a 16 acre smallholding and there are rivers, streams and waterfalls all around. The place is an oasis of escape. This whole place is steeped in history both ancient and recent, they say it has been in use since megalithic times as a sanctuary for healing, being the home of the famous bluestones which were transported (somehow!!) to Stonehenge. The mill has not been in use for 50 years but the old cast iron wheel still stands and the mill race flows behind the cottage. You will always be able to hear the faint murmur of flowing water as well as plenty of birdsong, the odd sheep bleating and no traffic except for a tractor making hay in the fields during the summer. During the summer holidays the cottage is only available to rent for a minimum of 7 days except in special circumstances. It is worth checking in with us.
You will be able to light a fire outside and sit under the stars-capes, hang out on the river bank and get natural, wander amongst the trees and hills and let the rest of the world disappear. 3 bedrooms, one double en-suite, one large twin room , one small twin with 2ft 6 beds which can be put together to create a kingsize bed. The cottage has been built and designed by artists and craftspeople. Well-equipped country kitchen with wood and coal fired Rayburn for central heating. The comfy living room has a wood burner and a TV and DVD player. We also have wireless and a land-line for local and incoming calls. Due to its sheltered location we only have the odd patches of mobile reception but half a mile down the lane there is full reception.
We are two miles down the lane from the nearest convenience store which you could walk or cycle to if you are coming on public transport. This is a wonderful area for cycling. The nearest small town is Crymych 3 miles away with a sport centre, swimming pool and local shops. Nearest station Clunderwen 6 miles. We can arrange to pick you up if you let us know in advance.
Our business is designed to support the local community as well as provide holidays so we are happy to link to local services such as organic veg boxes, massage, outdoor pursuits, bush-craft and hand-made goods.. We also offer compassionate breaks when we are not booked to those who are unable to afford a holiday but perhaps need one most after bereavement, illness, long periods of stress etc. It is a very nourishing environment here.and we love having visitors who appreciate nature and its kinfolk.
You are welcome to walk over 12 acres of natural/wild farmland, paddle/swim in the river. There are two other holiday properties on the site usually inhabited by lovely, friendly people :) Each has its own garden and the playground area is shared.
Общение с гостями
I usually greet my guests at some point during the stay to make sure they have everything they need. I am happy to chat with guests should they wish, even share a glass of wine (great friendships have been forged at Felindyrch) but respect that most people come to get away from it all and spend time on their own and sometimes they don't see me at all.
Другие важные подробности
You will find your holiday starts at the top of a magical track which you are advised to proceed down slowly and carefully. Look out for the blue painted stone. Felindyrch.
Please let me know if you would like me to provide bath-towels. I charge £3 each so you may prefer to bring your own. Tea towels and hand towels are provided as well as eco shampoos, conditioners, soap, shower gel and washing-up liquid.
Be nice, take care of the place and yourselves, our paths are not flat, there are steep steps and there is farm machinery around although not often in use. There is an abundance of water so children must be kept an eye on. Small children cannot access the mill stream from the house as the garden is fenced. If you go for a walk check in with Dan about where is good to go and don't leave gates open etc.
We have a septic tank and reed bed system so please use environmentally friendly products. We can provide most of the basic ones. You will also get a bag of coal and big basket of wood for each fire. You can buy extra bags but hopefully will not need them
