A newly built modern beautifully furnished and well organized place with all the essentials provided. It is in a safe neighborhood - this is the first place in the Caribbean I have stayed at without iron grills on doors and windows - so the neighborhood must be save! Overall, my best AirBnB experience so far.
Ideal for those who, like me, don't have a car or a rental car. It is very convenient to the (privately run) mini bus #17 which runs very frequently and late into the night and goes to Downtown to the north and English Harbor to the south. The nearest bus stop is 40 meters away on All Saints Road.
I would classify it as more of a Studio than a one bedroom apartment because the seating/eating area is in the kitchen without A/C and a TV, not conductive to relaxing! So one is pretty much confined to staying in the bedroom for comfort and leisure time.
There is a mini-market nearby on Herbert Road, one street up north, which I never used as it was more convenient to shop downtown for groceries in the supermarket close to the downtown bus station.
There were two negatives for me:
1. Plastic wrapping on the mattress, which was uncomfortable and sweaty as the plastic does not breath and made rustling noise whenever I moved on the bed - and I find is unclassy just like when people put plastic covers on their sofas.
2. I found the check-in and check-out arrangement very inconvenient and frustrating. Marleen does not live near the property or even in Antigua and has some local guy to handle (for free I presume) the check-in and check-out timing, who never answered his phone whenever I called. You can't say you will be arriving or leaving between time A and B. You have to call the local contact (who, as I said, never answered my phone calls or responded to my text messages) to let him know closer to the time you are arriving and leaving! So I played a lot of ping pong on the phone with Marleen. What if one does not have use of a phone with coverage in the Caribbean - luckily I had bought a local Simcard a day before the check-in day and even with that it was no cakewalk - it was a big hassle to coordinate the check-in and check-out time with the local contact, who as I said, never answered or returned my calls or responded to my text message, so I had to contact Marleen numerous times.
