You will be staying in our home and as such we ask that you carefully read (and then follow) the house rules. We love meeting and chatting with all our guests and would prefer not to have any negative interactions because the house rules were ignored. Also, be sure anyone traveling with you has read over the house rules. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Special note: there is a gate on the front porch (for Woody), the latch is a slide bolt on the inside at the top and the gate swings in. Our neighbors have the same gate so don't use it as the identifier for our house. Our red porch drapes are our most distinctive feature for easy identification. The house number is on the pillar on the right of the front steps.
If you are traveling with a second person, please give us their first name as well.
Our new front door bell system has video.
No smoking anywhere on the property inside or outside. We recommend that our guests who smoke take a walk around the neighborhood with their cigarette.

The room is large enough for you to set up a portable crib or cot for your child - we do not provide them as storage is an issue in old houses like ours. Please be aware that we are child friendly but have not added any safety features specific to children. We ask that you supervise your child at all times.

Variety is the spice of life and we love meeting new people. We purchased our 1892 Victorian, The Black Pearl, in 2011 and have spent quite a lot of time remodeling her. We enjoy good food, good conversation, live music, PBS, reading, traveling and sports. As your hosts we will greet you with a warm welcome upon your arrival and gracious hospitality during your stay. We love our city and are anxious to share it and our home with travelers. We have a friendly beagle/bassett named Woody and a cat named Maxine.
