A sleepy island with crystal clear sea, marvellous sunsets, away of tourist crowds, without cars and roads. Authentic Mediterranean setting for quiet family vacation.
Apartment is 40m from beach. Spacious balcony, wonderful sea view, garden, barbeque, bicycles... We provide catering, airport pickup, garage, boat trips, guided tours and boat rental.
The apartment was completely renovated and expanded in 2011, so it now looks as if it was newly constructed. The living room and the kitchen with dining area are full of light throughout the day thanks to large southwest-oriented windows. Bright orange walls and matching light-green kitchen tiles add an extra vibrancy. The dining table is placed near the windows for a lunch with the sea view. A sofa (which easily converts into a bed) comes well for an afternoon rest. To shade the daylight, windows are equipped with bamboo blinds and electric roller-shutters.
The bedrooms are painted in delicate pastel tones and furnished with a simple and elegant furniture (one bedroom has a double bed and the other has twin beds).
The apartment has a spacious terrace that extends along its whole length, lining two sides of the house. The frontal portion of the terrace overlooks the sea, covered with a foldable sunshade, while the lateral portion follows the adjacent grove, overshaded by a lush canopy. A large table with chairs, loungers, an outdoor sink and a solar shower are useful extras.

BEACHES & DIVING
As Kaprije is located far from cities, industry or any other source of pollution, its shores are rinsed by the sea of exceptional clarity.
Some thirty meters from our house, next to the olive groves and rosemary shrubs, you will find an array of little paved beaches with stairs for easier entry to the sea. Spend a day sunbathing alone at the beach in front of our house in absolute peace, accompanied only by the soothing sound of the sea and crickets.
In the base of the Kaprije cove, fifteen minutes from our house, you will find a shallow gravel beach ideal for your children.
Another ten minutes away, a path between ancient dry-walls of vineyards and olive groves takes you to a true gem of the Kaprije island. The Nozdra cove is a savage place for those searching for a return to the primitive, uncontaminated and profoundly Mediterranean ambient, full of colours, tastes and scents. Natural white pebbly beach and large smooth flat rocks that are perfect for comfortable sunbathing, frame the turquoise sea and create contrast of irresistible beauty. If you prefer shade, you will find it under the pine trees that grow right next to the beach.
When you get thirsty or hungry after swimming, refreshments are waiting for you in the bar or in the restaurant on the other side of the Nozdra cove. Both objects are very nice, with stone facades blended with the countryside.
If you have some explorer's spirit, you have opportunity to use our small motor boat. It will allow you to discover more distant, pristine beaches of the Kaprije island and of surrounding islets.
Next to the neighbouring Kakan island, the blue lagoon will enchant you with its Caribbean-blue colour. Such intensive colour is caused by the seabed that seems to be sandy at the first glance, but if you dive (it is about 3m deep), you will find out that the entire seabed is covered with little white shells. While you swim there, you will feel like you immersed yourself into some unusual fluid instead of the warm sea water.
To help you reach all these places, we prepared the map of the area, marked the most beautiful beaches of our choice and added their photos. You can find the map in the apartment, as well as the waterproof version that you can carry when you go for a walk or to a boat trip around the island.
If you like scuba diving, you may have heard about two famous diving locations on the Kaprije island. Ship Francesca da Rimini sunk during World War II. Thanks to excellent visibility, you can recognize the ship's contour even at the depth of 10 meters. At the Kaprije promontory you will find unforgettable underwater walls with caves full of life.
Diving centre Jadranska Galathea operates in Kaprije during some ten weeks in the May-October period. They offer diving trips and kayak rental. You can also arrange the diving with some of the other diving centres in Sibenik area which offer trips to these locations.
What makes me feel alive:
Meeting people from different cultures.
Traveling (particularly to far, exotic destinations).
Random silly item from my bucket list:
Winter sea swimming: keep on swimming regularly all year long, in spite of coldness.
The most adrenaline rushing thing I've ever done:
Running vertically on the facade, from the roof of a scary tall building (at the inauguration of Hypo bank business center in Zagreb).
Book that had the most impact on my life:
- Fiction: Jonathan Livingstone Seagull (Richard Bach)
- Non-fiction: The 4-Hour Workweek (Timothy Ferriss)
My favourite movie:
- Hollywood production: Matrix (1999)
- Non-Hollywood production: Central Station (Central do Brasil, 1998)
A movie that I recently saw which pleasantly surprised me:
The most interesting article I read recently:
There is one blog that I follow called Zablogreb, but I can’t pick a single post because most of them are great. Cody is an American professor (with PhD in political science) who married a Croatian and then moved to Croatia. His creative and funny insight shows socio-cultural differences between Americans and Croatians (which are mostly applicable to other Europeans as well). He recently adapted this blog into a (bilingual) book, currently among top 10 bestsellers in Croatia.
Knowledge/experience that I can share:
- Professional topics: telecommunication, computer science, project management, process management (e.g. SOX certification), business planning/analysis, marketing, photography, design, tourism, portuguese language
- Leisure topics: Independent traveling, exotic destinations, Brazilian culture, music, raising children, breaking free from a corporation “golden cage”, lifestyle change (e.g. moving from city to a small village or a small island)
My favorite quotes:
“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.” (William Faulkner)
“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one” (John Lennon)
“Una vida bien vivida – a life well lived” (San Miguel slogan)
My life in 331 words:
I was born in 1975 in Sibenik, a small Croatian coastal town. I finished Natural Sciencies Grammar School in 1993 and moved to Zagreb to study. There I discovered my passion for traveling and getting to know other cultures. In parallel with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, I studied Portuguese Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy (where I enrolled after my return from internship in Brazil). At that time, together with several similar enthusiasts, I co-founded Croatian branch of student organization Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) and Croatian-Brazilian Society where I am still president (meanwhile the society grew to a few hundreds members). When I graduated as an engineer, I got job in marketing department of a multinational telecom company, where I remained for 10 years. At the position of Roaming Manager I gained valuable experience in managing people, products/services, international projects, processes and strategy. I also got a chance to visit wonderful parts of the world, either on business trips, or traveling independently. Besides many European countries, I visited India, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan (2x), Zanzibar/Tanzania, Mauricius, Cape Verde, Cuba, Bolivia, Brazil (4x)...
When my children were born (in 2006, year 2009 and 2012) I decided to change lifestyle and pursue my vision of a calm family life in balance with a job where I would be liable only to my customers. I left the corporation and big city, and together with my family I returned to my home region (Dalmatia). We settled in a quiet coastal village close to my hometown, and I fully devoted myself to tourism. I used experience from my travels and my professional experience gained in a well organized multinational corporation, in effort to raise tourist service level in my community, both through growth of my private accomodation business and through volunteering as vice-president of the Sibenik branch of Association of Private Accomodation Owners in Croatian Chamber of Commerce.
