The holiday cottage is suitable for 2 - 4 adults. Please note the price for 2 adults is 110€ you will note under pricing there is an additional charge of 35€ per person up to a maximum of 4 guests.

Buying food and wine, especially on vacation, is one of life's great pleasures, perhaps at the farm or the chateau or from a market, ideal for a picnic or a meal. Each day there is a market nearby and on most days a choice of markets. For example, there is a small market in Saint Emilion on a Sunday and also a large market on the same day at Libourne close to Saint Emilion. The Gironde is an area rich in markets, with markets in the nearby towns of Branne, Rauzan, Sauveterre la Guyenne, Creon, Targon and Castillon la Bataille. There are food and general markets in Bordeaux as well as a ‘flea market' and a special organic market in Bordeaux on a Saturday.
Saint Emilion is only 12 minutes by car from the cottage and the picturesque villages of the Gironde are close by. A visit to the beautiful city of Bordeaux is essential and within easy reach. A day trip to the coastal towns of Arcachon, Lacanau for surfing and Gujan Mestras for oysters straight from the sea is very tempting as is the climb to the top of the Dune du Pyla which is the largest natural sand dune in Europe.
There is a large quiet garden for you to enjoy and perhaps observe the red squirrels or the birds of prey overhead. You may hear the woodpecker or see the hoopoes in summer. Ocasionally in the early morning you may also be fortunate enough to see deer in the garden. Horse riding can be organised with a local stable which specialises in rides through the vineyards.
This vacation rental is ideal for those who love wine. We can arrange visits for wine tastings or to buy wine, either with our neighbours or further afield, depending upon your requirements. Please contact us for further details.
Originally from England and lovers of wine we have carefully chosen the location of our bed and breakfast to be very close to the vineyards of Saint Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes, the Entre deux Mers, the left bank, (Medoc) and the city of Bordeaux. You may be surprised but there is more to this wonderful region than wine! In order to provide additional information on history, activities and visits we have created a new site called bordea(URL HIDDEN) for your interest.
The cottage is a self-contained wing of our house which is also a bed and breakfast. Guests in the cottage can benefit from the sociability of the bed and breakfast and our local knowledge or they can keep to themselves.
When requested, it is a great pleasure for us to help guests find routes and villages in the Gironde off the tourist trail.
Cycles can be hired in Creon at the old railway station which is now a centre for the cycle track which follows a disused railway line. Cycles can also be hired at the tourist office in Saint Emilion.
The cottage has ample secure parking for between 2 cars, depending on size, but not for caravans or camping cars. Cycles and motor bikes can also be left in safety.
We hope that we can have the pleasure of welcoming you to our holiday cottage soon.
Please contact us if you would like further information for a relaxing holiday with the freedom of a self catering cottage but with the advantage of knowledgeable hosts being available for your requirements.
We renovated the cottage for our own use whilst the major stone work on the main house was taking place and we lived there for two very happy years. Therefore we spent rather more money than might be considered wise and especially so in the kitchen.
There are ample work surfaces made of granite and there is a gas cooker with five burners and a large oven. If you have the desire to shop at markets and then come home and cook then you will find a well equipped kitchen; fridge with a small freezer section, blender, vegetable steamer, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine. If necessary, there is an ironing board and an iron!
There is a dining area in the kitchen but more often meals take place outside on the west facing covered terrace. We have spent many wonderful evenings there watching the sun go down over the trees, listening to the birds and of course with a glass in the hand and a bottle on the table. There are sun loungers and a cushioned swing and there is ample space on the terrace for eating and relaxing. If you wish there is an electric barbecue available for your use on the terrace. Alternatively you can join the guests in our bed and breakfast for dinner, on nights when we cook.
In the kitchen there are electric radiators for autumn and winter heating. There is a downstairs shower room equipped with wc, sink unit and a powerful shower with plenty of hot water. In addition there is an electric towel rail which is large enough to keep the shower room warm and towels dry.
The downstairs bedroom, with a view to the garden on the west side and view on the courtyard on the east side, has a large bed of 160 x 200 and a seating area.
The upstairs bedroom, with a view to the garden on the west side and view on the courtyard on the east side, has a large bed of 140 x 190.
All beds have new mattresses of good quality to provide support and comfort. There are curtains as well as shutters so the room is very private.
There is an electric radiator for heating when required and for high summer a fan
Our desire is to make your vacation the happiest possible.
