Nestled between famous St. Charles and Magazine streets, the location of this townhouse is everything! Experience the real New Orleans in this 1880's townhouse, nicknamed Beurre Blanc, half of a "Camelback Shotgun Double". It features 3 BR, new kitchen, 2 new BA, historic neighborhood, eateries, taverns, shoppes, art, music just steps from the front door! Streetcar/taxi to Fr Qtr in minutes. All the charm of New Orleans in this historic Creole townhouse fully renovated in 2013, the left half of a raised 1880's Camelback Shotgun Double. Up the front steps is a wide front porch, perfect for sipping morning coffee, evening cocktails and "people watching". Inside you'll discover a charming interior, full of character with modern upgrades. The cozy Living Room is furnished with new memory foam sleeper sofa, HDTV, 12 foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, original mantel and huge pocket doors. The spacious Dining Room has seating for 6. The well-equipped Kitchen has new cabinetry, granite counters, stainless appliances. Down the hall is a stackable washer/dryer, then a newly renovated full Bathroom with tub/shower. The spacious Master Bedroom has a new hotel quality king bed, luxury bedding, big closet and HDTV. Up the winding stairway, you'll find the second full Bathroom with tiled shower. Opposite the bath is a cozy walk-through Queen Bedroom with vintage cast iron bed, followed by an adjoining King Bedroom with hotel-quality king bed. Furnishings are a mixture of new, antique and vintage pieces, which our guests compliment. See photos for a better idea of the floor plan.

Right past the kitchen, the side door alley leads to a tree-shaded, bricked back yard where you are welcome to enjoy the 6-seat patio set for picnicking, relaxing under the trees or cooking on the new gas grill. This space is shared with your hosts (or our guests) in the townhouse next door.

My husband and I divide our time between our townhouse next door and our other home 2 hours away. We have businesses in both cities. On the rare occasion that one of us is not next door, we have a local host. Just text us and we'll answer promptly. Our terrific neighbors know that we are Airbnb hosts and are happy to recommend their favorite spots.

(1) We have terrific neighbors. Please respect that they live on Eighth Street full-time. No loud music, no parties. (2) These houses were built in horse-and-buggy days, so there are very few houses with off-street parking. Everyone parks on the street. Do not park in the loading zone for the business across the street. Anywhere else is fair game. Discourage theft by removing personal items from your vehicle and keeping it locked.

NO first-time Airbnb renters. NO renters under 25. NO exceptions.
Must be verified and have at least one host review.
NO Pets. NO Smoking inside or out.
And NO parties. We're in a neighborhood. Our terrific neighbors and the Garden District Security Patrol will put an end to your party really quickly. And you'll be asked to leave...with NO refund.

We don't allow children (0-12) because our townhouse has a very tall, winding stairway with rails. We have no children's furniture, no child-lock or safety features.

Guests are asked to do these tasks before departing (which helps prevent ants and mildew and aids in the cleaning process: (1) place all used kitchen and bath linens in hamper (2) load and start dishwasher (3) toss out any prepared foods or perishables (4) place all trash in outdoor receptacle since trash gets picked up in the wee hours on Monday and Thursday mornings. Our cleaning service will do all the rest.

Last but not least, please be aware of the layout of our townhouse. Like most "shotgun doubles" in New Orleans, the house is 12 feet wide but very long. It shares a wall with our other townhouse next door. As is typical in this style of home, the two upstairs bedrooms adjoin, meaning you have to walk through one to get to the other. You can see this layout in the photos and floor plan.

We discovered a typical New Orleans house, with two bedrooms that communicate. We had an amazing time in Jan's lovely house. It's perfectly located, 3 minutes away from Magazine street and Jan is very kind and hospitable and full of good addresses! Thank you again!

Words can't express how great Janice and Marty are. The home is lovely, the neighborhood is beautiful, and if you follow their advice you'll see the best parts of the city. If you've got a group event in New Orleans, you should stay here.

I stayed at Jan's for a long girl's weekend. The house is in a terrific location right off of Magazine St. in the Garden District. We were in walking distance to cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops. The house itself was nicely decorated and clean. The five of us fit very comfortably. Jan has the house stocked with everything you need, including linens, towels, toiletries, and wine/beer. She is super communicative with check-in information and suggestions on restaurants and local events. Next time I am in NOLA, I am definitely staying at Jan's.

We loved our stay at Jan and Marty’s home. Their place is beautiful, clean, safe, quiet and it’s within a very quick walk to public transportation, restaurants and shopping. Hanging out near the house was one of the best parts of the trip. Beds were very comfy, parking was easy and Jan and Marty were always just a text or step away.

Great location in the heart of the Garden District. Walking or biking distance to most all of the New Orleans attractions. Jan provides all of the basics so you just need to figure out which of the many nearby restaurants you want to walk/bike to for a meal, cocktail or morning coffee. Jan is into the true spirit of airbnb and makes you feel like a welcome guest in a home you are borrowing from a close friend or family member.

Real New Orleans neighborhood and style - felt like a native! Popped around the corner for coffee, lunch, the grocery store and cute shops. We were a party of 6, 2 parents and 4 grown children, and we were very comfortable. Talked to Marty a few times and he was very helpful with suggestions. Close to the Superdome and the French Quarter, we parked the cars and Ubered everywhere, since parking can be an issue in the FQ. Walked to Commander's Palace! Had a great visit!
