I chose VP because it was nice and within my budget. I booked my stay for a month. I arrived, only to find there wasn't a key to my room, and there was someone already sleeping in my room. I wouldn't've expected this as an issue because my check-in date was two days prior. My room should've been ready; however, Gabe quickly resolve the problem. Some of the guest were nice, but a few left common spaces dirty. Most of the time I stayed in the room with my guest. I encountered one guest who was extremely rude, filthy, and anti-black. I had been staying at VP for two weeks up until that moment without prior complaint. I never got a formal tour of the unit and never met Jenny in person. However, I witnessed several tours of the property being given by Panama Paradise. I always cleaned after myself, but randomly received a call from Jenny. Which caught me by surprise because this is what she said, "GM, how are you? You need to know that you are staying in shared housing! I've gotten complaints saying you don't clean, your music is loud, and you didn't tell me your boyfriend is native. Apparently, he has a wife who isn't happy that he is here. I'm not trying to sound mean you could have a guest but I don't want my house full with natives, so none of his little friends can come in and this is not a party house!" I felt her call was unprofessional and very disrespectful because this was my first interaction with her since I arrived. I felt like she jumped to conclusion about us without even knowing us. I reminded her I booked the room for two. It shouldn’t matter if my boyfriend is a native or not as long as we cleaned up after ourselves. Out of all her accusations, I could only admit to playing music. What I saw in Bocas is everyone plays loud music. However, I adjusted the volume out of the respect to Jenny and the complaints she claimed she received. Our conversation ended by setting up a date for us to meet. Jenny never showed up. I waited for 2 hours, I tried several ways to contact her and failed. The receptionist later apologized on her behalf. I ended up sending additional times to meet. She responded 6 days later and never came. I know this intense conversation only happened with me because other guests blasted music and had people over drinking and partying. Overall VP is cozy, and a short walk to everything. The only issue was the shower not being cleaned. I asked the receptionist for cleaning supplies. It took me an hour to clean the shower. Similarly, to how there wasn’t a formal orientation of the space, there wasn’t any information regarding the proper way to check-out. Jenny was helpful at first but during the duration of my stay she was unprofessional, unreliable and unclear.
