Well appointed and super clean guest house in Winter Park. Quiet neighborhood, one mile from Park Avenue & Rollins College. One bedroom, full bath, living room (w/ special sleep sofa) & kitchenette. View of the beautiful saltwater pool & lush surroundings from your living room. Perfect for a relaxing getaway.
Retro Retreat is a lovely private guest house and a wonderful retreat for those enjoying all Winter Park offers. It was built in 1950 by Sorensen & Fletcher and is well appointed including several authentic mid-century modern furniture pieces. It has a private bedroom (Queen bed), full bath with tub/shower, a kitchenette and a living room with a desk, a TV and a sofa that converts into either an XL twin daybed (bolster moves back) or the sofa can become two separate XL twin beds or pushed together become a king size bed. We've included a photo of the sleep sofa in our listing gallery so our guests can better understand how it works. (please note that when you use the two twin beds / or king option, the mattresses are 8.5 inches high and additional floor space is used) We’ve recently added new FLOR carpet tiles, a fresh coat of paint and a new heat/air unit. Retro Retreat has a wall of windows overlooking the saltwater pool and lush landscaping. Since we do not want bugs or lizards getting into the house nor do we want to heat or air condition the outside world☺ please, keep windows closed. The sliding glass doors in the living room are locked as well and should remain so. We enforce a no smoking and a no pet policy which affords all our guests a more comfortable stay.
The guest house sits across a shared courtyard from the main house, where we, the caretakers live. It has a keyless entry so check in is anytime after 3:00 pm. We’d be happy to greet you and give you a tour when you arrive, but should we miss one another, there is a detailed Welcome Book on the coffee table which should get you acclimated to the property and surrounding area offerings. There is an open saltwater pool so children under 14 must be supervised. The Pool is available to you. It is ambient temperature and is warm from May through September. For an additional charge, we can heat the pool. See "Other things to note" for more information. We invite you to relax on the two chaise lounges surrounding the pool or feel free to use the dining table in the courtyard which overlooks the pool. We’ve added a hammock at the far end of the pool for our guests to use too!
Unfortunately, the outdoor kitchen and grill are not available to our guests.
Please note that the brick paths and patio are somewhat uneven as tree roots over the years have pushed up the bricks! Spotlights are on from dusk until dawn, but be careful to watch your step!

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our guests and surrounding neighbors, we have developed several house rules:

Please be considerate of others nearby and keep noise to a minimum.
For those guests visiting their child(ren) in area colleges, they may invite their child(ren) to join them on the property to spend the night or swim. No additional visitors are allowed on property without our approval before booking.
To maintain a relaxing atmosphere, we have a no party policy.

We strongly recommend that all guests who would like to swim in the pool are capable swimmers. Our pool is open with no lifeguard on duty. Swimming is at your own risk. Those guests under 14 must be supervised at all times when in the pool or on the grounds. The pool rules are pretty standard and are outlined in the Welcome Book. These rules apply to our guests and their child(ren).

I am an architect who has had my own business close to 20 years and enjoy traveling (for fun). I especially like Mid-Century Modern Architecture and find myself seeking out notable examples all over the country. After discovering this house, I made an offer before my wife and daughter had a chance to see it. Pretty daring, even though my wife and I have similar taste.
Sherron, my wife of 24 years, is an interior designer who worked professionally in both NYC and Atlanta. She is a now a stay at home Mom raising our daughter Grace and is excited to host Airbnb guests in our guest house.
Grace is an excellent student who loves to swim, read and visit with friends. Grace notes that living in Winter Park is like being on vacation except for homework!
We have several indoor cats (all rescues) that live inside the main house with us. They are all black and white, Sherron’s favorite colors.
We moved to Winter Park two years ago from Atlanta GA. Most of our good friends have stayed with us, so we’ve had a lot of practice being unofficial hosts.
We really enjoy meeting people and look forward to connecting with our guests. Our goal is to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable.
